The Guardians are going for it because they have a shot at the division (5 games out behind one mediocre team) but no shot at a wildcard spot (11.5 games out behind multiple decent teams)

The Tribe had some great arms during that time. Loved watching both Carrasco and Salazar. Kluber was awesome as well.

Nobody claimed Shitbruk. I mean he is hitting .323 vs Lefties with 6 Homeruns and can play all 3 OF positions. I would have taken him.

Considering all the games at Coors he has the weirdest home/away splits - almost identical numbers - like really close

He's gonna give them 5 innings despite the disastrous start. Its a 4 game series, so at least the Dodgers won't blow through the bullpen tonight. Some starters would have been out by thr 2nd or 3rd inning.

Between him and Ohtani, I don't think we've ever seen two athletes as exciting as them across all sports. MLB needs to do a better job promoting their stars.

Also for Clevinger his contract was an issue ....this from MLBtraderumors

 

He signed with the White Sox on a one-year, $12MM deal in the offseason, but it was in the form of an $8MM salary and $4MM buyout on a $12MM mutual option for 2024. Though there’s only about $1.38MM left on that salary, any claiming team would also be responsible for that buyout, therefore taking on $5.38MM just to have Clevinger for a month. Prior to the trade deadline, the Sox could have offered to eat some of that cash as part of a deal but didn’t have that option in the waiver process. Though there are plenty of clubs that could have used another starter for the stretch run, it seems none of them were willing to pay that kind of price to do so.
