Series against the O's this week will be interesting. Full strength Toronto team (minus Vlad if his finger is still an issue) versus a slightly more beat up Orioles team.

I feel like Toronto's remaining schedule is easier than all the other teams in the WC mix.

Those 6 Yankee games remaining looked like tough matchups weeks ago but they might have mailed it in by then...

After the BAL series this week Toronto has 15 consecutive games against CLE, WSH, COL, OAK, KCR.

Really need to go like, 12-3 or better in that stretch. And then succeed head to head against the AL East teams and Texas to finish out the year.

On September 22 Toronto still has 6 games remaining against Tampa Bay. It will be cool if they are limping to the finish and within a game or two.

Man, taking 2 against Baltimore this week would be nice.

Winning a series against Baltimore right now would be amazing

Yeah gotta hope they at least go 10-5 minimum against those teams in that 15 game stretch. Cleveland always plays the Jays tough. Nationals aren't a huge pushover (7-3 in their last 10). Colorado, Oakland and KC suck so gotta at least win 2 of 3 each of those series or sweep one of them. Coors Field sometimes isn't easy to play in especially for a team who rarely visits, but the Rockies are awful.

Winning the series against Baltimore would be a huge statement.

Yankees won't be a pushover. Would be nice if guys like Judge and Cole are rested but we'll see.

Overall, Jays control their own destiny. Their schedule in September is pretty favourable and as long as they play good baseball, they should be right there.

Yeah they absolutely have to destroy the easy part of the schedule. Hopefully Bichette being back is the spark they need to at least be a decent offensive team down the stretch. More Jansen in the lineup would help as well.

10-5 isn't good enough against those teams

f***in LOL. Angelos is terrible.

Im not sure that we actually have to worry about the Os being a “powerhouse” for years. This is probably as good as they’ll get.

What a joke. owners like him should be ashamed. I'm not saying everyone has to be like Cohen either but FFS crying poor like this is such a ******** line.

Orioles were 4th in baseball in profits last season according to Forbes.

"In between the Mariners(1st - 83.8 million) and Athletics (5th - 62.2 million) as the teams with the highest profits in the league were the Giants ($74.9 million), Red Sox ($71.6 million) and Baltimore Orioles ($64.7 million).

That's right kids, the blueprint in MLB right now is to be terrible, take money in profit sharing from other teams, get awarded a load of small market comp picks, don't try to retain any talent you accidentally come across using that system while crying poor, even though you're pocketing 10's of millions of dollars in the process. Even spending HALF of those profits to support payroll could make a huge difference.

It certainly explains why Elias wasn’t spending money on pitching this past winter. Turns out he didn’t need to but he’s working for a guy who wants to build like the Rays and cry poverty.

Yeah its a major slap in the face to the Os fanbase. The team could be elite with a few additions but its not looking like that will happen.

Baltimore has a track record of spending so poorly it's almost understandable.

By the end of their most recent spending sprees from 2012(81 million) to 2018 (142 million) they were even top 10 in a league in spending at one point. records during those years??? 93 wins, 85 wins, 96 wins, 81, 89, 75 and 47. you read that right, by 2018 the Orioles paid 140+ million dollars for a 47 win team. Won a WC game, lost in the DS, won the DS, lost the CS and lost a WC game over those 7 seasons.

The more the O's spent, the worse they got.

2019 payroll? - 61 million, 28th in the league.

The fan complaints are going to reach a fever pitch when they lose in round 1, sign Wandy Peralta and Martin Perez, and call it an offseason.

Hey hey hey give them some credit. They'll extend Austin Hays or something too.

If they don't resign any of their top young players to extensions, they likely will have a 4-5 year window of being competitive still before they all become FA's.

This year with everything clicking, they should have added more at the deadline, especially another top starter. They should have went after Verlander or Mad Max at least. Things from year-to-year can change in baseball. Players regress, get injured and miss significant time etc. Need to take advantage now, not 3-4 years down the road when these guys will almost be FAs.

After a slow start with the DBacks Pham slugging .633 over the last 7 games and starting to pick it up. We'll see if the nutcase can keep it up.

Season OPS+ 123. Could have used that bat in this line vs LHP.

I'd have loved that.

Wait, I thought after only ONE week being awful with the D'Backs, it was a horrendous pickup?

Yet Varsho over one week hit .316 so all is forgiven for his awful April, May, June and July :P

Wat???

The Mariners play 15 shitbaggers in a row... W-Sox, Royals, A's, Mets, Reds, than Tampa after that, a very similar schedule, Jays need to make it hurt, starting with the O's.
