Eno Sarris

@enosarris

Chris Bassitt locates his hard stuff really well (top-ten Location+ on the four-seamer) has good stuff and locations on his breaking balls (surprisingly top curve Stuff+ last season despite low velo), and could easily throw more breaking balls. Decent recipe for aging, imo.

Now I just don't know what to think as I read that Bassitt has zero stuff on this forum.

So one of the reasons I didn't want Kikuchi is because his 2nd half after the All Star game he sucked. His velocity dropped and he was getting hit hard etc.. With Bassit, there was no correlation in performance with his velocity drop as I previously pointed out.

Plus Kikuchi sucked prior to his All-Star season. Bassit has a nice track record of consistency the past few years.

His raw velo, fastball values and spin rates are pretty mediocre. I think that's where the zero stuff belief comes from.

For what it's worth pitchingbot ranks Bassitt's stuff as a 55, while Eno Sarris also rates his stuff as slightly above average. There's not a lot of red on his Statcast page but Statcast is a pretty incomplete indicator on it's own for measuring stuff.

What would an offer to Stripling look like now for the Jays? Would 3/45 get it done for both sides?

I'm not sure he has the track record to command a 3 year deal at that money.

As a 4/5 starter this is a great signing that will stabilize the rotation. Expecting him to be a number 3 might be a stretch so it would be really nice to get a big dick starter like Rodon to trot out there in game 3 in a playoff series but, they can always find someone at the deadline if Atkins decides to skip his nap that day next year.

Have to hope Berrios gets his act together and that solves a major problem for this team.

Still don't get wtf this front office was thinking with that contract. They got full of themselves thinking they could "fix" anyone.

The team had success completely turning around the fortunes of Ray and Matz. The team has a full offseason to work with Kikuchi. It could very well be typical offseason fluff but I read a report that the club was very pleased with Kikuchi's offseason up to this point. There are two years left in the deal and Kikuchi was pretty filthy as a reliever. Iron out some of the command issues (mix of non competitive pitches and meatballs) and the raw tools are there for Kikuchi to provide plenty of value.

I still don't get WTF you're thinking in 90% of your posts before at least proof reading? Oh yeah... lol

Rodon has a pick with him also..

I never insinuated he didn't? What's the point of your post?

The difference with those players was that we didn't commit to them long term financially so the risk was minimal. And excuse me if I dont care about offseason reports when we have his past 1.5 seasons to show he's underwhelming to say the least.

But yes, if they can harness his control then he can earn the remainder of his contract. Let's see how he looks in spring training because he'd help the rotation immensely if he was good.

Nice... calling the Kikuchi contract stupid ruffles some feathers. Hope you're keeping sober these days and still aren't the town drunk around here lol.

Never said you did. I was just pointing out that even if we pivoted to Rondon, same penalty.

Take a deep breath Thanos.. The world is at stake....

The mods actually personally reached out to me and asked if I'd give him The Sheriff treatment. After discussing it we decided that the ban was the lighter form of punishment.

STFU you one eyed guzzling, uphill gardener! Or you're next. I have nothing to do with that s***, meat. Now go buy yourself an Achmed wife, and get yourself blown up, midget!!! :)

Kikuchi has better stuff than Bassitt. He has games against big league offences like HOU, NYY and put up huge whiff rates.

Bassitt is a guy that faces LAD and gets like 20% o swings.

You've been entirely open about it. As I recall, you freely divulged the fact you were in Tunisia looking for a new wife to buy. Whereas Spanky has made clear he does not appreciate the drunkard innuendo.

Apples and oranges, bruh.

You are aware there is more to successful pitching than inducing whiffs right?
