Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Brad hand was really bad with the Jays
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Braves are only losing 4-2. They can still come back and win this game against the Phillies BP.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Wonder if the Braves can get a refund on the Riley contract. 1-14 in the playoffs and 6 for his last 51 He’s typically streaky. Not on one of the good streaks obviously
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Braves getting face f***ed now
philly30 Verified Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Wonder if people will still like expanded postseason when gross teams like the Pads and Phils play each other for the NL pennant. Everyone has to feel included! If they are gross then they should have been beaten
Jays333 Verified Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Worst team in the playoffs knocked out a good cards team now about to knock out 100 win Braves. Gross Padres knocked out 100 win Mets and could knock out 110 win dodgers. If MLB wants more playoff teams like NBA and NHL they need to do best of 7 series like NBA and NHL. Let the cream rise. Impossible in short series.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Man, thats playoffs. Bye bye Braves. A hot PHI team flipped the script on 21 Braves. I dont like them but congrats to PHI. Hoping HOU finishes off SEA today.

Agree its harder to fluke it out in 7, but this is pretty exciting.

Impossible in short series. It's a fair point and I agree to some extent. Problem with a best of 7 series in the DS means you'll likely have the World Series finishing in second week of November. Even if the NLDS was 7 games this season, the Braves would have to win 3 games in a row now to win the series against the Phillies.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I hate the Braves. Super awesome. Why? They have a lot of great players
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 How many big hits have come from Lefty bats in this post season? Just rubbing it in Atkins stupid face lol
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Holy s***, Dodgers bout to get f***ing bounced. Looking like Houston over Seattle will be the only expected outcome of the playoffs so far
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Incredible lol. Mets/Braves/Dodgers - all out.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 SDP earned it. Put balls in play. Timely hits from both sides of the plate, and a wipe out pen locked it down. Congrats to the giant killers. Even without Tatis Jr, they are moving on. This kind of thing happens in hockey quite a bit too. Even if best of 7's. Lots of teams have won the "Presidents" trophy and had big regular season win totals only to get punked in the playoffs. That was always the joke about Washington Capitals and Ovechkin, until they won. Lots of other examples.

Both guys have been extremely underwhelming for them in the regular season. But trades like this are made for the postseason anyways, so those look like good moves for the Padres now

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 How long before Preller's "trading for superstars" strategy becomes unsustainable both financially and for the farm system? Very good question. Flags fly forever. Depends a lot on their results. It's not a small market. He has Soto for 3 post seasons. Hader for another. If he is lucky Tatis comes back and is Tatis next year. He has made some big bets. OTOH we traded a lot of our top prospects too, at the time, for Berrios and 22-23 of Chappy. Not sure what our next "wave" from the farm is going to be. Ricky, we all hope? One of our C will likely be dealt so we will get a full look at Moreno. Juxtapose all this against a C Jays deadline this year. Which arguably ended up hurting us this season and in this post season. Most times half measures get the results one should expect. You can make a case that with a better pen and an impact LHH in 22, we aren't even in a wildcard, because we win the division. It will be an interesting off season.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 How long before Preller's "trading for superstars" strategy becomes unsustainable both financially and for the farm system? Now I think. He kind of jumped the shark. He needs to win this year or next... or maybe he has a 3 year window I don't know but he needs to win.

And we know how that team is structured.
