Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Tbf, here's how that inning went: Mullins hit a good changeup that was low. Santander hit a painted fastball (up/away) and was late on it, got BABIP lucky Jansen catcher's interference on an 0-2 pitch They for some reason call a change up again for Henderson. I don't know how much blame you put on Berrios there.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Gonna be a struggle to get through 5 today with all these lefties. He doesn't have much to put them away with. Coming off a bullpen game. Might be a butt clencher for the next couple of innings until we can start to bridge to the end.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 It's probably not going to happen, but Stripling better start game 3 of a WC series. Berrios has been too inconsistent all season. It better happen. You can make a legit case Stripling should start Game 2
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 lol BABIP inning yall are tripping. Santander's hit was basically a check swing and Mullins grounded a ball pull side and got through the shift. Can't be mad with that.

Berrios has been too inconsistent all season. It's too early to say. If Berrios finishes this game with a 6IP 2ER line, he's still favoured to start game 3.

Tired of the excuses made for him. He hasn’t been good enough. Plain and simple.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 One thing that I dont get about the logic of creditting players with a sacrifice... LIke, if you bunt to get a guy from 2nd to 3rd or 1st to 2nd... it's a sacrifice. If you hit a fly ball that scores the runner from third... sacrifice. But hitting a fly ball out that advances the runner to 2nd or 3rd, just a normal out. Why no sacrifice on a play like that? It's not like when a player is up there with a runner on third and less than 2 outs they're actively trying to give themselves up with a flyball, that's just what happens. So why is only a sacrifice if the runner scores?

And he certainly isn't on his A game, walking a tight rope.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I was doing some work on my boat and had the radio on. Ben Nicholson Smith kept calling his partner Ben, but it didn't sound quite like Ben Wagner. It's actually Ben Shulman! He's not blessed with his father's voice, but he's a natural and doing a great job.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Why would you ever call that pitch for a rookie 9th batter in a 3-2 count, wtf.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 (edited) Walk the 9 hitter… nice Edited September 17, 2022 by Stangstag
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Mullins is quick af, I thought that was a sure DP.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Why would you ever call that pitch for a rookie 9th batter in a 3-2 count, wtf. Probably because it missed and it shouldn’t matter what your tenure in the league is when making a correct call lol. Strike is a strike. And a Ball is a ball.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Berios so many deep counts he is frustrating to watch
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Walk the 9 hitter… nice But hes unlucky!
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Walk the 9 hitter… nice On a change up, wtf is Danny and Berrios doing lol , awful pitch calling this game
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Berios so many deep counts he is frustrating to watch If it wasn’t for Kikuchi it would probably look worse lol

No I meant why did Danny call that; Stowers could not hit a single fastball his last AB (went down in 3 pitches), so 3-2, 9th batter, no one on... you throw a fastball.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Not sure what the pen situation looks like but if you can bridge it from the 5th, I would not give Berrios another inning today. Battling everything.
