Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Who would you start instead? Our best hitting lineup 1-7 is right handed (Gurriel is as well), Merrifield and Espinal are both significantly better against LHP in their career. I don't think much would change by starting Biggio and Tapia instead of Espinal and Merrifield, if anything it would be worse. Bradley probably would have a been a good guy to start this game

Floortom Verified Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Vlad has one HR in his last 111 ABs Springer has one HR in his last 127 ABs Teoscar has two HR in his last 78 ABs Chapman has one HR in his last 104 ABs That's 5 HRs in 420 ABs from the heart of the lineup

Biggio and Tapia over Espinal and Merrifield is probably how I would have played it. Whether it would have made a difference or not is another story, but Springs carving this lineup up like he has is not surprising.

You'd be ignoring blatant matchup data just because the rest of the team is otherwise inept at hitting soft tossing lefties? What if Espinal and Merrifield hit those guys well?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 I f***ing hate Mitch White. This dude has caused me nothing but pain
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 I f***ing hate Mitch White. This dude has caused me nothing but pain He has had a servicable outing today. Couple of bonehead plays in the field not his fault.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Yeah his line looks fine. No walks, no dingers.

Biggio hasn't had any issues vs LHP in his career, so he should have absolutely been in the lineup against Springs today. I'd be less insistent on Tapia since 1) he's Tapia, and 2) Espinal hits LHP well, so I'll revise by saying Espinal at 2B and Biggio in RF (or LF with Hernandez in RF) should have been the lineup. At least have one lefty in there, especially one that's actually good (Biggio).

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 Do you guys notice Merrifield at the plate. He looks completely disinterested. Like a guy waiting in a long line at Costco with only two items in his cart. Maybe that is just how he is, but he doesn't look happy to me. On another note, maybe we'll see Moreno in the second game.

Lol. I think it looks more to me that he is really low in confidence and trying to relax himself. I think he is really feeling the pressure to do better and he really needs to!
Waylanderz Verified Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Solid so far from White. Hopefully he can go further so we don't burn the bullpen anymore.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Just f***ing missing today. Must be dead air in the closed dome
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Goddammit And Springs only at 74 pitches
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Goddammit And Springs only at 74 pitches He isn't getting another time through the lineup don't worry.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 The entire lineup outside Bo and Kirk look completely lost
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 Mitch White....full value today.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Turned on his Stripling mode. Gave us a quality 'start' (he's probably going back out one more time)
