Ehh idk he didn’t look so hot that inning he was pulled. Wasn’t fooling anyone with the slider anymore

It's hard to argue with the results but his slider is actually the worst one of his career so far. Its horizontal and vertical movement on it are both worse than ever in his career and IMO he throws it too hard. Backing it off 2-ish mph would probably be beneficial.

Counter point, Maybe the advanced analytics department (who let's be honest is making/fueling many of the call) and advanced scouts are bad. Ever notice how often a pitcher they haven't seen carves them up?

No doubt they are/were both puppets for the front office, so neither one is different from the other, but Montoyo was playing scrubs regularly (Panik, Valera, etc) and had horrendous batting orders. Schneider at least has logical batting orders and doesn’t play the back of the bench guys unless he has to (for the most part).

Pulling any pitcher for Yimi Garcia is indefensible. It seems like he blows the game every f***ing time he comes in. He's the least reliable pitcher in our bullpen and it makes me sick that we have to watch him for another year now.

That's why they call him Slippin Yimi

Worse by what measure?

Stuff+

2023 = 105

2022 = 103

2021 = 117

2020 = 100

And by all run value measurements (results) 2023 is his most effective year for the slider.

I think the intentionally had Kikuchi add some velo to the SL and take movement off of it, so he could command it better or use it without it being so all over the place

Sure, he's getting better results with less movement, more velo. It works for him. It's weird to look at his curveball movement #'s... it looks pretty similar movement-wise to what his slider was doing a few seasons ago.

What is Gibbons up to these days?

Living his best life. He has no interest in Managing again.

If there’s any justice in this world. This should be the last game ever managed by John Scheneider in a Blue Jays uniform.

Too many mistakes to even count today

Horrendously managed game

Eh. If Mayza just didn’t suck farts today it would have been a smooth easy win. Probably should’ve won in the 9th too. Bad call for the bunt, just let the guys swing. Especially Biggio as a lefty with the ability to pull the ball and advance the runner anyway.

Schneider got schooled by Tito today

He called for a bunt as the road team in extras. This is like saying how JimCanuck won a Least Creepy guy in the room contest, against ConnorP

Where's today's post game from JS? You would think that at least SN1 would have covered it, unless there wasn't one? Very convenient.

Well, I saw it, no conspiracy bruh.

I thought Springer had his 2nd of the game in the 8th as well... Ughhh... JS said Cavan didn't execute the bunt down the 3rd base line, should've just swung away as you mention. Played the game scared.

ok well that was not only Mayza’s fault

there were so many things Schenieder didnt do yesterday

1. he supposed to bring Garcia to 8 th inning or even Romano for 2 inning save

Romano didnt pitch for 5 days, so if I was manager I would use him for 2 innings

2. He trusted Belt too much

it no one out and runner on 2 nd base you have to bunt Belt to move Runner to 3 rd, next batter was Guerrero Jr so he could hit walk off

3. he didnt challenge properly

2 days ago , 1 st inning it was safe at 2 nd base but he didnt do anything

4. players dont like Schenider because his brain doesnt function properly

He's supposed to, the bunt was supposed to go to the 3rd base line, Cavan f***ed up.

For sure. The call for the bunt was just bad for several reasons. As was Espy swinging 3-0 whether it was a green light or his own decision.

I know but read the play dude. Calhoun was basically standing next to the pitcher when the bunt went down.

I'm not cool with the bunt, and who knows with Espy. Yikes.

A. why give up an out?

B. he is a pull hitter and even a GB to the right side or a deepish FB to RF gets the runner to 3B with one out. Maybe he wins it on a base hit or better.

C. Biggio always looks like he sucks at bunting. He is more likely to blow a strike(s) bunting at it or on a foul; pop it up and/or bunt it right to the fielder.

D. f***ing Espy and his 62 wRC+ followed Biggio

Bullpen management I had no problem with. Mayza just unexpectedly gave it up in a way he hasn't all season.

But they STILL could have won in the 9th or 10th and the Biggio/Espinal AB's each had a huge problem. Not Jansen's fault he got thrown out - he knew a bunt was on and it just wasn't the right bunt at the right time. And of course the team back to their inability to come up with a big hit. And it suckes that the bench was down to Kirk by this point but that wasn't anyone's fault either just Bo and Chapman had to come out.

Couldn't agree more. Still pissed off lol.

Whether Mayza was unusually bad is irrlevant. It doesn't change the impact of the Biggio bunt and Espy 3-0 swing at ball 4 decisions by coaching staff. (we arent sure if he was green lit)

Relievers don't always just deliver perfectly of course for all teams, and decisions still have to be made that affect the game, in that aftermath.
