Trade Jansen in the offseason after he's completed his season. He's still got an OPS north of .900.

Ride it out and hope it finishes above .800 so you can trade him for a haul.

Why not trade him for a haul now, before the post season??

We could really really use a starting pitcher. As of now we are relying on Stripling and Kikuchi as our #4-5 to carry us down the stretch and that's probably ok in theory. Stripling looks fine but I worry some about his workload. Kikuchi is a total wild card but he's the #5.

The real problem is we have only Max Castillo in case of injury or Kikuchi not performing. I think we are a pretty solid lock for the playoffs but a couple of injuries to the rotation and it could tank our chances. We just need someone who can get through 5 innings with an ERA under 5.

I've been saying this all day! Lack of SP options if there is an injury would definitely tank the Jays chances. Doesn't hurt going after another arm if it's a reasonable cost.

I would though pay a high price (not a ridiculous deal obviously) for Carlos Rodon or Alex Cobb if they can be available.

He's great game calling with our pitching staff, some of which have large varying results depending on who's calling the game (Gausman, Berrios, Kikuchi).

Rodon is scary with that player option but it also lessens his cost and he could be a game changer as a frontline starter in the playoffs. Cobb's injury risk is high but he's cheap and he's got another year. I agree, both would be great targets. Seems like the Giants might not be selling though.

Agreed 100%. I'd rather Stripling back in the bullpen as a shutdown long reliever and SP insurance.

Stripling and Castillo are nice swingmen to have on a roster as SP insurance. Look at teams like the Dodgers who built up solid SP depth. The Jays won't at least sink if they need to call upon Stripling or Castillo for 2 or 3 starts if someone misses time. Even look at the Mariners who got both Castillo and traded for Matt Boyd.

Yankees have been talking to Marlins about Pablo Lopez. Would be prospects if it happens.

Because Jays are winning games with him as a catcher.

Yeah Rodon would definitely be a game changer as a frontline starter in the Postseason. The opt-out and his injury track record do scare me as well, though if it lessens his cost, he's a guy to go in on.

We'll see if the Giants trade Rodon, Cobb or Joc Pederson. I think they need to trade Rodon. Get a nice package of prospects for him, then sign him back in the offseason haha.

Yeah we might as well keep him IMO. Kirk/Jansen combo is working and is want we want for the playoffs. Moreno ain't ready for that yet.

And trading veterans at the deadline for other veterans isn't always the easiest anyway. Astros were one obvious team but they already got their C.

Is this guy verified?

Well this tweet is several hours old as Mahle was already traded.

Wouldn't put much stock in it.

Contreras is a catcher.

Lopez hasn't been good for a few months now...don't know why so many want him, he's basically Berrios.

Been very hot and kind of cold this season. A better team I think gets him right

Agreed, but struggling in the NL doesn't really give me much confidence in his ability to pitch in the AL East.

Lopez has multiple IL stints for shoulder issues. Hope the Yankees get him, Josh Johnson 2.0

Yea, but when he is pitching, he was leading the league with most IP per start or something avg 6 innings plus.. and QSs.

Cardinals really held on to Carlson so they didn't get Soto and they really didn't go after any other trade but Quintana. Interesting.
