Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 The defensive analytics we plebs get is skeptical at best. I don't like them one iota, especially after seeing their numbers on Alomar. Didn’t fangraphs adjust their defensive metrics last season which led to players having like +/- 3 WAR over a few years? Yeah they aren’t very accurate
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Can’t just move Bo to 2nd base mid-season and expect him to play any better. He’ll need practice there. It has to be an offseason decision. We saw what happens with guy playing out of position on short notice, Vlad with 1B and Biggio with 3B. Good chance Bo is a disaster at 2B if you just plop him there. You could say that both those guys just physically didn’t have it for those positions whereas Bo easily has it for second, and there’s a ton of overlap with shortstop. I see your point tho.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2022 Author Posted June 26, 2022 Didn’t watch today, but looked like a good fight they put up. Kikuchi put them in a hole early and Bo did not help him at all. I see Thornton and Castillo both pitched well, good for them. Offense managed to score 4 runs against the best pitching the Brewers have, and some of the best arms in the league. Not bad. Sucks to lose by 1 yet again but I guess this is the scale balancing after all those wins early in the year. Silver linings? haha... I kid!

At least with the offense, it is tied to actual hard data that everyone has access to.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Bo will turn it around at the plate. I wouldn’t go near a long term contract with him. That approach doesn’t seem like it will age well, and there’s like a 30% chance he sticks at short. Lots of ball left to turn it on, but ya so far when you look at the WAR leaderboard there is nothing indicating massive long term deals for our elite players. 2021 was the movie? Nobody has gotten scorching yet. Kirk leads the team. Devers Xander Judge etc etc all way up there. We need those guys to rake but I really struggle with signing Bo's pitch selection long term coupled with his D.

Bo and vlad haven’t really started going the way we know they can and we are still in a good spot.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Feels like there are plenty of holes in the roster Also feels like they are capable of so much more and could go on a crazy solid run in the second half Weird season so far

If Kirk repeats close to this performance next year, he's definitely getting a contract all right. Good attitude, no-nonsense approach, works hard and shows it on the field, just an absolute stud.
