Did he, I may have missed that. Just seems like a labored waddle/run mix at times. Definitely not like we are used to from him

Yeah, missed a game with it, then DH'd, meh... could be nothing.

Kuch put us in a hole. Something has to be done.

True, and Montoyo has to stop using Richards so f***ing often.

Kikuchi just throw strikes FFS

Seems like Montoyo "manages" for the loss whenever we are behind. He won't go to Mayza or Cimber if we are behind. Although Cimber pitched yesterday when we were up by 9 runs. I don't get it.

32M a year in Kooch and Ryu. Hope the Strip can keep ripping. Kooch is like watching RA Dickey for me. Just dislike it most days he is on the bump. Can we all agree Richards needs to be done in any close game until he earns leverage back.

Idk, Kooch just reminds me so much of Robbie Ray (pre-2021) He’ll have bad starts where his command is non-existent and he’ll have great starts where he looks like an ace.

I would rather see them use Gage or bring up Adrian Hernandez at this point. The silver fox has lost his lustre.

After the disaster Roark contract and the bad Grichuk deal. If this FO has a weakness so far, it's clearly in evaluating projections and placing the right value on middle-of-the-roster type guys.

They do great with the bargain bin bums (Ray, Matz, maybe Garcia) and with the elite guys (Springer, Semien, Gausman) but they've made all of their mistakes in the mid-tier.

They also haven't extended any of their young home-grown guys yet. If something doesn't change there, that could also end up looking like a pretty bad fault.

The silver slugger forgot how to hit

He was just out in front of a ball that he hit into the 5th deck and his hit was 111 off the bat. Did you forget that baseball isn't easy?

I think it will be tough to extend Bo and vlad with their backgrounds. I’m not sure if you want to extend a pitcher that early but I could see the manoah reasoning. Moreno if he is good, signed for very little so he’s a prime extension candidate.

36 mil for kikuchi! 12 mil per season. Roark was 12 mil per season. I feel like we should never ever sign a pitcher with an AAV of 12 mil per season ever again! Baseball ref has him making 16 this year and 10 each of the next 2 seasons so maybe it will be easier to DFA him next season.lol.

Kikuchi was a guy with good stuff they thought they could fix. They were wrong I guess.

I agree with you, I think this game was lost by how our manager used his bullpen. The starter didnt help, but the add-on runs are what killed us.

You can't use Richards in a close game situation at this point. He's blowout material.

That 3rd run base hit by Baltimore was completely stupid montoyo's fault. His outfield bluejays defensive allignment was horrible. He over shifted on the outfield defense. Stupid montoyo does this many times.

You think Montoyo is in charge of shifts? He’s not. We have coaches that are responsible for that.

Yep. Richards is this year’s Chatwood, Charlie just keeps f***ing using him in close games.

That's been his career though. He looked like an ace when he faced us last year. He has a career 4.96 FIP. It's 5.19 this year. We gambled we could turn him around. There is the possibility he could turn into a decent reliever. Who knows.

Yeah so far they have failed to fix Kikuchi

I thought scrapping his cutter might do it but it doesn't look like it yet. He really has no idea where has fastball is going.

Kikuchi was expected to be a bit of a long term project and there is still 2/3 of the season left right now. There is still plenty of time to get him on track and with 2-2/3 years remaining on his contract he'll be given ample opportunity to do so.

He's getting 36 mil, so of course he's going to get ample opportunities. 36 mil is a bit much for a long term project. Does Nate not have just as good of stuff. Can't they get into fixing him. He's at league min. He threw 30 strikes in 43 pitches last night and the kooch is blocking any path he might have to coming back as a starter.

12M AAV is not that much mate

Are you seriously worried about Pearson being "blocked"??? Lol. The dude pulls an oblique when he sneezes

Pearson has to first show the ability to actually remain on the field before the team can get to fixing him. Kikuchi's command struggles have nothing to do with Pearson coming back as a starter, it's strictly health and workload related. If the team really wanted Pearson to work as a starter this season they have the perfect guy in Stripling to go back to the swingman role, so if they thought Pearson could handle a starters workload it would be a no brainer decision.

I think the FO has gotten a generous autopsy on Ryu, for Boras reasons etc. We got 1.5/4 seasons really and 4.5 fWAR seasons for $68M (cut back cause '20) Not the Roark signing to be sure, but worthy of some hindsight fair criticism given Ryu age/injury history and soft stuff.

That's as fast of a pop up time I think I've ever seen from a catcher.

Un-f***ing-Believable!!!

He actually looks like a SS playing catcher he's that athletic

Okay. I checked baseballsavant for pop times. Moreno already has the second fastest pop time recorded this season in all of baseball when throwing to second base. 1.86seconds. Only JT Realmuto was faster by 4/100th of a second! This kid is special.

Yeah I was agreeing with you there. The Ryu signing has been ass on paper. But some people believe it helped open the door for other big free agents to consider Toronto. If that's the case, then it will have been worth it in the aggregate.
