Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 The team on the 120 win pace will be tough to catch I agree.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 It's June and have several key pieces who are injury probe as f***. Also does it even matter catching them or not, sure bye in the first round is nice but it's a 3 game set now in the first round. Manoah and gausmant can take care of any team.

harvey16 Verified Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 The Yankees have the 3rd toughest schedule remaining, while the Jays have the 10th easiest. Goal should be to be within 5 games of the Yanks by the Allstar break. If we can do that I think we will be in good shape to take the division down the stretch, especially with so many games vs Baltimore in Aug/Sept. It won't be easy but definitely acheivable. I wouldn't be suprised to see both the Jays and Yankees crack the 100 win plateau.

I wouldn't be suprised to see both the Jays and Yankees crack the 100 win plateau. The math has already been done. A few games ago, even if the Yankees played .500 ball the rest of the season, the Jays need to win at a .630 clip the rest of the way to beat them by 1 game. Now, I can certainly see the Jays as capable of winning at .630, but no way the Yankess go .500 or worse unless at least 4 regulars get hurt for a huge stretch of time. It's possible, but it's not probable. That .630 winning percentage for the Jays also assumes total health, which is not likely either. All of that said, the Jays were pretty much out of the playoff picture last year before they won 14 or 15 games in a row at that one point towards the end of the season and ended up missing by 1 game. Anything is possible I guess.

Jaysareus Verified Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 And to those that say jays can somehow beat the yanks in a short playoff series . Ahhh no
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Ahhhh but they can Lmao Toronto is throwing out Strip and Kooch this series. It is not representative at all of what they would do in the playoffs.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 Yankees offensive would destroy any pitcher the jays have on their staff this year
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Uh huh The Jays have three SP1 or SP2s. Good pitching fan always shut down good hitting, when the arm is locked in
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Rays will win the World Series. Jays will be out of it Canada Day July 1st the next 10 days will be terrible. Playoff teams will be Red Sox, Rays and Indians. Rays will do a 5 game sweep including a double header sweep July 2nd. The effect on revenue will be catastrophic, as between June 17th and July 3rd big crowds will be exposed to traumatic losses, and watch the team lose even their expanded playoff spot. This is a franchise changing 2 weeks. The big crowds will leave in extreme shock and dissapointment. Attendance will crater the second half and the end of the Bo/Guerrero era has happened. The good news is the attendance the next 10 years will not be enough to support 80 million contracts to the likkes of Ryu, the next iteration of the Blue Jays will have to be a low budget one. Shapiro should resign end of this year so the new management can get maximum value for Bo/Guerrero and finally do a Rays style build.

You do realize that the Jays could be a few games out of a playoff by July second? They are only 2 games ahead of the last playoff spot. A poor homestand against Sox and Rays could put them a few games out of a playoff spot with the Indians not having to play hard teams. A stinker in the Canada Day game, and double header the next day will tank attendance the rest of the year.

Jays on pace for 97 wins. 3. Jays still third in AL 4. Jays still holding a playoff spots. 5. Don't panic, Jays only 2 games out of a playoff spot 6. (After July 2nd Rays sweep, after Rays win 12-2 on Canada Day)... 4 games out of a playoff spot, still half a season left. 7. 8 games out of a playoff spot at trade deadline. 'Jays in between can't justifying buying or selling' 8. Watching Rays/Red Sox/Indians playoff games 'Jays will be here next year, a young team this good can't be held back'. 9. Gaussman Tommy John - a risk you have to take, 45 million on the payroll for Tommy John guys, but Shapiro's a smart guy, he'll figure it out.

Likely last night for that. Not trying to troll. Just social commentary on Wilner's insane annoying positivity through any collapse. I hope the collapse is stopped somehow but if it continues on the current pace those on Twitter will have to follow Wilner saying 'this is fine, everything is OK', the entire time. 1,2 Gone 3. Today may be the last day Wilner can claim Jays still in third. He will move to 'Jays still in playoff spot' after today. Hilariously that can go real quick. Like by tomorrow theoretically. So he may only have a day or 2 to use that.

They could also bust 8 in a row they did a few weeks ago lol. 3 wild card teams makes it kind of a joke for the Jays to make the playoffs at this point, even barring your doomer attitude

They could also bust 8 in a row they did a few weeks ago lol. 3 wild card teams makes it kind of a joke for the Jays to make the playoffs at this point, even barring your doomer attitude They don't have the pitching to do anything this year, and it was obvious they'd collapse during this tough stretch. They have 3 great organizations in their divisions that will take 3 playoff spots, and it's unlikely they can beat out a central team as the central teams don't play the east and are probably better anyway. Really just making fun of Wilner's positivity. Wilner kept going on with the '3rd in the AL' positive point for a while... now that's gone (congrats Boston) he'll be 'still in a playoff spot' as they get clobbered by Boston and Tampa next week. Wilner will be 'still in a playoff spot' until that's gone later this week.
