There are a few posters on here who have been calling for Bo to move to 2nd for a while now. I thought they were crazy. Not anymore. I've lost faith in his D. It's not getting better.

He'll have his problems there too. CF is his ultimate destination

His arm won't cut it out there.

??? His arm is fine, its the accuracy that sucks. Gurriel had the same problems on the infield, once he moved to the outfield the arm played.

Sure he’ll still make errors at 2B but he’ll get less plays overall and have easier throws

Bullpen has been f***ing awful with letting inherited base runners score. Totally bloating the starters’ ERA

It's a pretty average pen no matter how hard I squint at it. Better than the first half of 21 obviously, but it's a long way from what it needs to be to make a deep run in the playoffs, with who we would face. Need more filth and more cowbell.

Had to stop watching every single game for awhile. Just too painful night after night the same offensive approach and production. When we do get a few runs the pen blows it lol.

Gurriel has a very good arm. Bo throwing across the diamond is just adequate.

Pearson going MIA like usul was unfortunate… he could potentially help a lot. Definitely gonna have to pick up an arm in the next month or so. Hopefully don’t have to wait til the deadline

Just sayin, we couldn’t really tell that Gurriel had a good arm until he played the OF. Same could be true for Bo, though I don’t think there’s any plans to move him from the infield

Huh...i didnt quote you, was making fun of laser trail balls for tomorrow's game

Oi, he was making fun of Vlad's hit and it's dumn. But, I gotcha now.

If he can't field and he isn't hitting with power or contact, what exactly are we doing here? Is it time to bring Groshans up?

We may have a situation here with Bo where his struggles in the field could be affecting him negatively at the plate. He's a fierce competitor and for the first time in his life, he's going through something where his bat can make up for any mishaps in the field. He's probably working so hard at improving his defence at short that it's taking away from his plate appearances, just like it does for most young catchers.

If Bo can accept the fact that it would be better for the team and himself to move off SS, I truly believe that his bat will then be allowed to reach it's full potential. Shatkins really needs to step up and address this in the off season. If it was ok with Vladdy then it should be ok with Bo. He isn't above anyone and needs to be a professional about it.

Nah, that's a whole different ball of wax we're talking about. Second base is his calling and he'll flourish there.

I was down on his long term prospects of playing SS in 1st half 21. Lots of posters brought up Simean for the A's and his early SS struggles etc. Bo started to look more legit on D as he improved 2nd half. He works really hard but he hasn't improved as much as I hoped in 22. I am disappointed the conversation about his being annoited the role has restarted, but it's a fair discussion. Especially when we have a decent sense of how big a deal he wants.

Not sure if serious about Bo's bat???

April - ISO - .085 wRC+ 53

May - ISO - .182 wRC+ 158

His career numbers in April are not that good wRC+ 88, suggesting he's a slow starter, he's going to rake, no doubt. As his numbers climb drastically from May and on. Silly to think otherwise.

Lol yep, I stopped watching for a bit. Baseball season is long, can't watch 162 games

The refusal to play small ball infuriates me. When Bo came up, have him bunt. He has struggled with the bat, but in a tie game, we need a run. Two on and zero outs? If the bunt gets down, Bo is out, but the guys move up and out of double play.

I mean, you can see it happening like a slow car crash, as soon as Vlad comes up, it will either be a double play, or a moon shot.

Every player will slump, but the manager needs to not put them in positions to either fail or be a home run hero.

These stupid shifts, and only playing homerun ball is killing us.

And dont get me started on Tapia. I dont care that he came through and had a clutch hit. He seems to struggle to hit a beach ball, and that "attempt" in center field last night was a joke. Dive or dont dive, but all he did was wave at it. If you have decided to not dive, then why not cut it off. He is useless.

Bradley Zimmer, i dont get the love affair here. His bat is non existent, but they keep running him out there. A batting average worse than Arenciba, but yet he remains, and gets bats, i mean he could never bat.

I often read, but rarely post, but this team has potential, and Charlies ways will have us struggling all year, and then some.

/End rant

If we were a .500 team I would have no issues with Bo working out his problems on D like Semien did his first couple of years. However we are in WIN NOW mode and management has to make a call. Errors happen, to everyone, but if he makes a major flub in the playoffs and costs us a win it is going to be a mass physchosis event for Jays fans.

In a 1200 PA sample he owns a 121 wRC+

He has always had questionable pitch selection, but he manages to overcome that with bat to ball skills. Hard to believe he won't end up with another solid offensive season all said and done.

I dont love bunting all time, more the idea of small ball, Bo went up there hacking off the go. In a tie game, the runner on first could probably crawl to 2nd, they were not going to throw down with the go ahead run on third. So fine, don't bunt, send the runner. They never put any thought in or be creative. I dont hate the rays, of course i hate how we always lose to them, but i used to love Maddon. They were a creative club who didnt just count/hope for homers to win games. If your whole strategy is to win by homers, and you are in a batting slump, you need to adapt. Maybe Bo can't bunt for s***, but i really doubt the Rays would predict a bunt, and why would they, the jays dont play small ball.
