BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 I dont love bunting all time, more the idea of small ball, Bo went up there hacking off the go. In a tie game, the runner on first could probably crawl to 2nd, they were not going to throw down with the go ahead run on third. So fine, don't bunt, send the runner. They never put any thought in or be creative. I dont hate the rays, of course i hate how we always lose to them, but i used to love Maddon. They were a creative club who didnt just count/hope for homers to win games. If your whole strategy is to win by homers, and you are in a batting slump, you need to adapt. Maybe Bo can't bunt for s***, but i really doubt the Rays would predict a bunt, and why would they, the jays dont play small ball. Bunting is 99% dumb to give up an out. Its not easy to bunt in todays game with the V and filth. Lots of bad things can happen in attempting it. A drag by a LHH with some speed for a hit can make sense. I don't want "small ball". Just some smart ball. Be heads up on the bases... Drive pitches away away... Make adjustments if constantly pitched the same way in the Box... Swing at more pitches on the plate, and less off it... Try and beat the shift occasionally... Shorten up occasionally when situation calls for it.

Tapia maybe slightly less
