MikeM3 Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Mitch White still? Guy has nothing.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 If the Blue Jays are serious about being more than a wild card team you can’t go into next season with Mitch White or Kikuchi with a guaranteed rotation spot. Fine as depth but can’t be handed a spot. There are other internal options for #5 With the market the way it is, we might just be stuck with it until one of Zulu / tiedeman ready

It’s clear they aren’t getting in on any of the higher price options. With the exception of Verlander because it was always going to be a shorter term deal. Senga doesn’t want to visit Canada for a meeting let alone sign here so he quickly got ruled out as well.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Kikuchi 4, Pearson/White 5 ?? Lol
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I wouldn't either. re-sign Stripling 3 yr $39M sign Conforto 1 yr $18M still need to trade for a CFer. Moreno for Alek Thomas + pitching prospect might work (I preferred Jansen for Nootbar instead of this, but that's no longer an option). I would really prefer an option where we trade Jansen and keep Kirk/Moreno - but I'm not sure that option exists now. Jansen for Chas M? Our Outfield Defense is going to be f***ing atrocious if it’s primarily Gurriel, Springer, and Conforto. Gurriel probably plays RF in that scenario and he’s never even played RF before.

The majority of Conforto's major league innings have been played in right field, and the overwhelming majority of his outfield play since the start of 2019 has been out there as well.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I think we're going to see Tiedemann up here in May and then pick up another arm at the deadline. How many innings you think Tiedemann is good for this season?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Kikuchi 4, Pearson/White 5 ?? Lol Kikuchi and Pearson will serve better in the pen. Kikuchi looked really comfortable coming out of the pen last year and Pearson should only be throwing 30 pitches max at any given time if management wants him to stay healthy.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Who's #4!?!? They can't possibly think Ryu will be a major contributor in 2023, can they? I think the Jays will add at least one more baseball player this offseason I'll do you one better, I'd wager that player will be a male between the ages of 18 and 39...

How many innings you think Tiedemann is good for this season? With the CBA changes, we're more likely to see Tiedemann break camp with the team or show up much later in the year. It would be pretty negligent roster management to both potentially miss out on a draft pick *AND* still miss the new super 2 cutoff. Unless I'm misremembering how the changes go...

Yeah, I'm not sure what the details are myself. I'd love to see Tiedemann break camp and set the league on fire. It may look like Stripling could be back on a three year deal (3/40?).

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 So funny how we all went from getting this one and that one a couple months ago to losing Teo and now settling for Kikuchi and White again. (Which worked flawlessly last season) Hilarious
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Really surprised no one took Gabriel Martinez in the rule V. Seems really advanced as a 19 year old hitter but must not scout well. Like you'd think Oakland or someone would have taken a flier.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Rodon probably goes 5/150 It's going to be depressing if he goes to the Yankees. I wish we would sign him! Spend the money!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Oh man... is there any way we can trade back for Teo? Lol

Nah he scouts very well Just too big of a jump straight to MLB for any team to think it’s worth it
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Pearson's injuries have nothing to do with his arm He had a broken arm and forearm flexor strain, these both seem pretty arm related to me.

How many innings you think Tiedemann is good for this season? He's only logged about 77 professional innings so far. Maybe something in the range of 120 could be possible?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Yeah to slot Tiedemann in for 30 starts in 2023 is just...not happening. No matter how legit Deadpool's reasoning is RE: new CBA reality. I just hope they don't do something stupid like a six man rotation as a sort of offset to his workload. Assuming he's good, you want Tiedemann ready for the playoffs. So mid-season callup makes sense.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Would be thrilled if this were something more than "best shape of my life" in spring training for literally every player.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Did Kikuchi put on 15 pounds of muscle? That use to be my favourite Raptor meme back in the day. Started with Bosh and carried onto Andrea Barganani, and has lived on as recently as Pascal Siakam.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 If Kikuchi somehow miraculously finds his command then the Jays are in great shape with the rotation. I'll need to see it to believe it myself. His stuff is incredible but he's a mental midget when it comes to commanding it. I could see him going on a tear for a couple months and then suddenly go back to walking way too many batters again overnight.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I’m excited to see both Kikuchi and Berrios get a reset over the winter. Sometimes things get bad and they spiral and it feels like there’s no way to recover. Take some time away, focus on what you need to do to get better without the pressure of game situations. Even if Kikuchi becomes a LH weapon out of the pen that would help the club.

Seems unfair/fruitless to make him into a weapon in the middle of the season if he fails as a SP. Didn’t do much good last year I mean clearly they decided. But I think he’d have more chance to succeed as an RP if he worked at that from the jump Edited December 8, 2022 by connorp
