Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Decent read of Maddon on analytics and FO's interfering in game management etc, click the link... Much ado about this FO, me thinks. I'm really not sure Montoyo and Schneider has much say.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Sounds like Merryweather's return is imminent... As is Mayza...
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Sounds like Merryweather's return is imminent... Should have an over/under on how many innings Merryweather pitches before he's hurt again.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 This is good news. Like Gollum in the Lord of the Rings ending, Merryweather & Kooch will have a role to play to get us some important outs b4 end of day Oct. 5th. Buckle up.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 So who gets demoted or cut for Mayza and Merryweather
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 So who gets demoted or cut for Mayza and Merryweather Yeah, that's an interesting one, I'm surprisingly comfortable with most of our bullpen at the moment.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Author Posted August 21, 2022 So who gets demoted or cut for Mayza and Merryweather Trevor Richards is the obvious choice based on performance, but I expect it might be Zach Pop because of options. The only other arms you could even consider are White and Kikuchi. Does Merryweather even deserve a spot right now? Tough call.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 What the hell is up with Springer man? He fouls a pitch off his knee/leg and has to miss… 3 games in a row? Is this gonna be another DL stint now?

Well at least they don’t have to clear a 40 man spot yet as it looks like they’re only sitting at 39. If Pop has to go down to get Merryweather up, and it allows them to keep both in the system…then yeah. When Mayza come back it would have to be Kikuchi sent down. They need White in the rotation.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 So who gets demoted or cut for Mayza and Merryweather The first cut from the 40 if they need to make room for anyone is probably Collins or Lawrence.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 The first cut from the 40 if they need to make room for anyone is probably Collins or Lawrence. Yeah the 25 man is more concerning
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Got to demote Kooch and have him start in Buffalo. Any starters go down, no other choice really.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Manoah told Cole to come get some next time. Perfect!

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Hard to complain, took 3 of 4 on road against Yankees, the problem is losing to teams they should not like Orioles Nobody would have guessed 3/4 coming into the series. Definitely hope it gives them momentum into the next 2 weeks
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Taking 3 of 4 against the Yankees in New York, can't ask for anything more. Hope the Jays carry that momentum moving forward. Can't be losing to these teams below .500 down the stretch!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Yeah winning 3/4 at New York is fine. The division was always a long shot given how great the Yankees were to start the season and how inconsistent the Jays have been. If more reinforcements came at the deadline, then maybe you'd get more hopeful for a miracle run, but this team kinda is what it is at this point (high 80s/low 90s win team), so just have to get in and hope for the best. I don't think it really matters which WC spot they get, but WC2 seems like the worst spot. Either get WC1 for home field, or WC3 to face the Central winner which should be an easier matchup.

Home field would be nice in the wildcard round. Imagine if the Jays placed 5th and Seattle 4th. Would be a fun series at Safeco. Would be like playing in front of a home crowd.

And the secondary market prices will be astronomical with Seattle being out of the playoffs for so long. I agree it'd be a fun series.

Those west coast fans will spend big money to see the Blue Jays in the Postseason.

It would definitely be a crazy series to see! I prefer we get Toronto/Seattle at the dome though… for selfish reasons
