When the target is a truly elite talent, the peripheral pieces in a deal have reduced perceived value.

The above offer would essentially be interpreted as Moreno + change for Soto. So it would be rejected swiftly.

Biggio - little value.

Gurriel - little value.

Pearson - little value.

Tiedemann - intriguing but still not huge value.

The Nats would rightfully ask for Bichette + Moreno + Martinez. Something like that. Maybe with a couple other fluff pieces thrown in.

Can't we have any fun? Lol. I think most know this. Jays can't add by subtracting much of material current value from 22 roster. As for prospects take your picks. I'd happily take Bell when a deal makes sense.

Hah, if he shits the bed, release him.

or just never sign him, save the trouble and the wasted roster spot

Hey guys! Long time reader, new poster. I’m heading down for the game this weekend, are you able to get in early to watch BP at all or is that restricted access and what time do they usually take BP?

Sorry I missed this and didn't see anyone else reply. It has been my experience that by the time the gates open up the Jays have completed BP. You usually get a chance to see the away team. Show up two and a half hours prior to game time. Also forget BP on Saturday games, it is hit and miss.

So where is Soto batting in the lineup when he gets here?

I say hit him cleanup. He only has 11 RBI and needs way more!

Lol..he's already got Bichette's bags packed.

That's why we'll be trading for Correa.

Has to at least be crossing their mind at least at this point. Save $30m and get prospects back

Royce Lewis' breakout allows it to happen.

They are going to trade Correa because some noob is playing well in 11 games?

Yes.

If they can get a legit prospect for him. He has an opt out after this season. If he's good, he's gone; if he's bad, he's eating into their payroll. The Twins also like to work with a low payroll. This noob also happens to be a former 1st over draft pick.

Check this out. What if we keep Bo and instead trade prospects for Soto instead of Correa?

Sorry. I forgot all 1st over draft picks pan out.

What do you guys sincerely think is wrong with the Blue Jays?

The vast majority of the offense is underperforming projections. Some of them, by a wide margin.

Is it something in the collective approach? Bo Bichette is, for example, not only a hacker but he hits a lot of opposite field fly balls - probably a bad idea with the deadened ball. Alejandro Kirk, same type of flyball patterns and he's not the type of guy to hit opposite field homers with a dead ball. Vlad - lots of oppo flyballs. Teoscar, same thing?

Why don't these f***ers just yank dingers the old fashioned way like Danny Jansen?

Vlad keeps getting strikes called on him 4-6" off the plate, so he's constantly swinging at pitches on the outer half that he probably spits on if umpires weren't gigantic flaming bags of s***.

I mean Vlad is only mildly underperforming expectations, he's the one I am not worried about whatsoever. But the rest of these clowns.... woof.

Espinal - overperforming by a lot, skill change

Jansen - overperforming but hasn't been healthy

Springer - performing as projected

Vlad - underperforming a bit

Kirk - underperforming a bit

Bo - massively underperforming and it's not bad luck

Teoscar - underperforming massively

Chapman - underperforming massively

Gurriel - underperforming massively

Tapia - underperforming massively

Biggio - underperformed massively

I feel like Teo will right himself with some more games under his belt, but I have no idea what to do with Bo. He just makes up his mind to swing and looks completely ridiculous half the time. He has great ABs sometimes and I think "hey, maybe he's chilling the f*** out here..." and then his next AB he swings at a pitch a full foot out of the zone that was never even close to being a strike... It's maddening.

He’s always been like that though? The numbers will come around. He had a brutal 2-3 weeks in April but he’s looking better lately

My speculation is that it's a combination of a league wide offensive drought, a lot of our guys randomly having slow starts and a tough early season schedule (I saw a graphic where the average fastball we are facing is something like 95+ and the average fastball the Yankees have been getting is 91 or something). You could probably throw in bad BABIP and bad sequencing when it comes to getting a hit with RISP.

Add it all up and you've got a bad offense. But it doesn't end there either. It's all being compounded by the fact that the players are now pressing, perhaps moreso with RISP.

2-1 loss. Soft tossing lefty will handle us lol

Nice call, 5-1 but you had the Jays great hitting pegged dead on. Doesn't much matter if there's someone out there throwing 85 or 100 they can't hit, and it's even worse every time Gausman pitches

I found this gem on Berrios since some people here like to ignore ERA and WHIP and come back with a bunch of progressive stats in his defense.

Jose Berrios (SP, Toronto Blue Jays)

I can hear Berrios managers right now, saying “are you telling me that he has been lucky to have a 4.83 ERA”. Well, yes. The right-hander has watched nearly all of his metrics trend in the wrong direction this season, including his strikeout rate (15.3 percent), average exit velocity allowed (91.3 mph) and hard contact rate (47.1 percent). He currently owns a 6.84 xERA, and in 10-team leagues he is becoming a candidate to be released.
