Ray Verified Member Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 I had no idea Leo Jiminez was that deezed... Yeah no kidding. Looks like a bodybuilder. Imagine if the power comes. Even if it doesn’t, maybe he could be Yandy Diaz.
Ray Verified Member Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 Yeah I've started fapping to him already Callup this fall possible?? I feel as if things have gone very wrong if we see Orelvis this season, but stranger things have happened.

They'd need drop someone from the 40 man to add him. No need to rush that unless everyone and their mother gets hurt and he needs to be here out of necessity.

Ah he's not on the 40 Anyway hopefully he tears up AA this year and forces the issue sooner than later
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 Danner throwing strikes Does he have a real chance of making it as a major league reliever?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 Does he have a real chance of making it as a major league reliever? It seems like he has a very good chance as during fall instructionals he was sitting upper 90's with his fastball. It sounds like he still needs to work on developing a good secondary pitch.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 Does he have a real chance of making it as a major league reliever? He has the stuff to
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 What's the deal with Bird, he's not coming north with the big club is he? Not if he keeps turning 3-0 counts into strikeouts on very hittable fastballs Greg f***IN' Bird!!! The player Jays need.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 4 pitch walk for Biagini to start his outing. Welcome back. Mid-season form
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Chapman battling for the number 2 spot in there order! Like I said, he will bat 5th at worst to start the year. After that, it will all be performance based. #2 might not be so bad
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 #2 might not be so bad Nah, everyone needs to calm down a bit. Batting fifth should be the highest it gets.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Can anyone explain why Moreno isn't in camp and when he's going to arrive?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Can anyone explain why Moreno isn't in camp and when he's going to arrive? I think I heard Buck say he has "veesha" issues Lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 I think I heard Buck say he has "veesha" issues Lol This is a problem league wide.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 I didnt hear about Moreno, I did hear them say Yimi Garcia has visa issues.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 I didnt hear about Moreno, I did hear them say Yimi Garcia has visa issues. Moreno is having visa issues too. With a shortened spring training, it's too bad a couple guys are missing action.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 What's the deal with Bird, he's not coming north with the big club is he? If he's actually healthy he should be. Guy is the second most talented hitter on the team. In his early 20s he was 1 level below Vlad, one level above Bo... Great patience, nice power, dynamite minor league numbers, mashed in a pennant race at age 22 in 2015. Don't get me wrong. He might be permanently broken now I don't know... but his raw natural talent is very good. There are examples of guys breaking out at 29... though mostly strugglers like Bautista, EE, Cruz who found it. Not sure if there are examples of med-tent injury cases coming back at 29. Anyone know of any?

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Lol dfkm ? I don't understand your comment Bird hit .337 .450 .480 or so as a 19 year old in low A. .288 .428 .511 as a 20 year old. Was decent as a 21 and 22 year old in the upper minors. And hit very well in the 2015 Pennant race as a 22 year old. No one else on the Jays was that good from 19 to 22. Can't accomplish that without a lot of talent. Since then he's been injured for 7 years. He sucks because he is injured, may never be healthy, late in the game for him now, but he does have talent.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 If you compare Bird vs. George Springer age 19-24, Bird was ahead until 22 at which point he broke If you compare Bird vs. Bo Bichette age by age... Bird is probably ahead every year... I mean Bird had a great eye. Bird broke. He has talent and he broke. Not saying he's fixable but he did have talent.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Brett Wallace for HOF I see what you are saying. However Brett Wallace was a level below Bird. Wallace had pedestrian numbers in Vegas and other PCL parks at 22 and 23 and bad k/bb. Bird was promoted to MLB at 22 and did great in a tough pennant race.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Maybe the second most talented hitter on the Jays is Kirk then. Though Charlie is like 'Fightin' for a job. Kirk fightin' for a job with Reese. We'll see.' hmmm... that stupid missing season screws everything up. Kirk looked great at 20... then we don't have a 21 for him, and he was injured half the time last year, and was sharing second catcher with Reese some of the other time. Not a lot of data.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Would anybody give Kirk 150 games? 100 at Dh 50 at Catcher? I think I would.

Yes, lots of examples of players figuring it out around 30 years old but it's still incredibly rare. And Bird is a guy with zero MLB PA in last two season + he was not great in his AAA year in 2021. So the only issue really is the statement you made about him being one of the most talented hitters on the team. Evidently that ceased being true years ago. In fact, I would say that the last time Greg Bird was statistically interesting was way back in 2015. Every projection system now thinks Greg Bird is a below average hitter BUT he may be able to find the physical capability to be an MLB contributor. A productive platoon hitter would be a great outcome.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Heck yeah DH vs LHP in particular (against whom his OPS+ is 40 points better so far in his short career) It's a nice notion... But Charlie will squeeze Grichuk in wherever he can.
