You f***ing guys man. The commonality between Donaldson, Bautista, Goins, Valencia, Pillar, Stroman etc. is that they are all ATHLETES. Athletes in the social media age. Athletes in the Reddit/Twitter age where equal voices are given to the jocks and the nerds they terrorized in high school. You think George Bell or Kelly Gruber or Dave Stieb would translate well to 2020 society?

And honestly about Goins. Yes he was a piece of s*** MLB ballplayer. But a piece of s*** MLB ball player is better than 99.9999% of people who ever touched a baseball. If you were a fringe major leaguer you would have a big head too. For the majority of his friends and family growing up, Goins is the most famous and successful person they'll ever know.

Oh don't get it twisted! I prefer that 2015 team. It was like a team full of wrestling heels. Fun to root for but I can see why we had some heated rivalries at the time.

That's kinda the perfect way to describe that team. it would not have shocked me in the least to have heard of Donaldson having hit someone with a folding chair.

I don't think anyone here is ripping them for being *******s. most of us here could give a flying f*** as long as they can play baseball well.

I think it's just moreso giving credit to Gibbons for managing the massive egos in that room and what it must have taken on a daily basis to ensure they all co-existed without killing each other

Yeah but...that's EVERY manager of an MLB team the 1800's to today. Including the current brass that has to manage several spoiled second generation stars and their baseball daddies who think they know better.

Current lineup is deeper but the current team cannot touch the trio of Donaldson/Jose/Edwin. 2015 also had the better defense and bullpen while the current team has better starting pitching.

In the end, it's a toss up. But doesn't it feel great that we're just starting out contending window? We knew 2015 only had a few seasons of elite baseball left and it was even shorter than that.

FO's plan all along. They get the *golf claps* from me, beautifully done. Best s*** I've seen since, Gillick.

The 2022 team is better positioned moving forward for the next 4 to 5 years than the 2015 team was, as we saw the Jays only made the postseason for two seasons (2015 and 2016). In 2017, injuries and age caught up to some of their big stars and the rebuild began. The window for the 2015 was very short and we saw that. AA went all in during the offseason and even at the trade deadline in 2015. As for the 2022 team, they have a big window still as long as they can retain their young core players and everyone stays healthy.

In a postseason series, which team would perform better? I give a slight edge to the 2015 team because of their bullpen. Osuna, Sanchez, Cecil, Hendriks, Hawkins were all lights out. Rotation wise, Price wasn't that good, but Estrada and Stroman were rock solid when called upon. I give the 2022 team lineup the slight advantage on paper.

All great points and agreed, the bolded part is understated in this thread, we need to see this team perform before we can really say, which team is better or would rather have.
