One has to wonder if the Giants simply used the health condition clause to walk away from a deal they decided was a bad idea.

Were the Cubs / Braves / whoever really going to pay Correa something similar? Crazy.

Can't remember where I saw it but the rumor I saw was that Correa was signed by ownership and the front office had serious reservations. There was something quasi-legitimate in the medicals and the front office used it as a last ditch effort to get out of the deal. Usually it is the owners taking advantage of the medical review (Baltimore comes to mind) but the rumor I saw was San Fran pulled that card.

The other owners probably hate Cohen so much, lmao

He refuses to be part of the price fixing cartel!

29 owners voted in favor of him buying the Mets. Jerry Reinsdorf was the sole no vote.

The ones who are under the limit will see some of this money come to them so they probably don't mind much. I do wonder if this means we will see the Jays now try to stay under so they get a piece of that growing pie though?

I hope the Mets crash and burn so hard. They are easily the team to hate now.

Ya, there is something fishy here for sure.

Lol

The Mets only signed JV and Correa no? Didn't Walker go to Phili and Judge obviously went back to the Bronx.

The Yankees are so insufferable. Whether it's celebrating 62 or holding press conferences for naming team captains, they love the smell of their own s*** more than anyone.

Isn't it a pic of Edwin Diaz in a Yanks uni?

Ahh, thanks that makes more sense. I thought that was Taijuan Walker.

Yes, I am suggesting the Giants got cold feet and used the health clause and whatever conditions Correa has to walk away from the deal. Yes, bad faith.

And I wouldn't blame them one bit.

As other's have pointed out on this board, it is likely that by the time the Giants are good and can compete with the Dodgers and Padres of this world, Correa is a good ways down the aging curve.

Lol. Where’s Bigfoot at?

In the end, it’s better for baseball. They can only gobble up so much and they bring excitement to the biggest market, which trickles down.. along with money

There are all kinds of reports out there suggesting the Giants got cold feet, and used medical reports as a pretext to back out.

Also, the San Francisco Chronicle has reported that ownership, not the FO, spearheaded the Correa negotiations.

The Mets deal is conditional on medicals, let's see what happens.

Honestly expecting Zaidi to step away/go to another team either this year or next. That Correa contract seemed like a huge mistep and I feel shows a disconnect between ownership and FO.

Or Correa’s body is actually f***ed and Cohen is just a dumbass

Yes I am wondering if this is the case

Same. Just want to see Cohen to throw a hissy fit and whine on Twitter. You can’t just buy championships these days

I like it, good for him. Judge honestly seems like a good guy, not a full of himself douche like Jeter

I read an article a couple days ago about a couple that was snorkeling in Hawaii and the husband came back but the wife didn’t. The husband said there was an aggressive shark around them. The internet exploded with “the husband killed her”

The next day they released more details including eye witness accounts where it was pretty clear she got eaten.

People will always say crazy s*** if there’s any wiggle room to…sometimes even if there isn’t

Does he get a sparkly princess tiara to go with his useless title?

I mean.... Verdugo + prospect isn't a horrible framework. For Jansen.

Verdugo is slightly worse than Jansen and a bit more expensive by projected arb salary. But two years of control. Lefty outfielder. Some promise remaining, I think.

I don't think they have anything to offer for Moreno or Kirk haha.

I don't want either of Verdugo or Duran. They're garbage and Verdugo is insufferable.

I think the San Fran writers are questioning whether there might be something other than an injury as well.

well a disconnect between the GM and ownership would make a bit more sense than one human party getting cold feet on something like that

but if ownership signed him, more or less, and Zaidi killed the deal this way, I mean wouldn't ownership just f***ing fire him right now?

This is kind of standard practice when a team sees something concerning on a a medical. Let’s be real, CC having something concerning on a medical would hardly be far fetched. They made the deal on good faith, got cold feet when they saw the medical. It happens

You see it with big draft picks sometimes. Like did they get cold feet about drafting a guy in the 1st round, so they pulled it bsck? It’s stupid
