Gotta wonder what Votto will be doing after he hangs up the cleats

Something to do with hilarity I bet

oh that sucks for Mikolas, lose a no no with 2 outs in the 9th

At least his manager allowed him to go for it, instead of pulling him in the 7th.

130 pitches. Didn’t even take him out after the hit.

Idk, this could backfire spectacularly. Marmol has a penchant for riding guys too hard. Hopefully Mikolas doesn’t come down with some sort of injury.

Tigers have like a 1% chance to win the division, Jays have about 20%. If the Yankees lose 1 or 2 key players those probabilities can change dramatically. It's June.

It's not mental gymnastics because the Yankees have historically had a lot of injury problems and about half their starting lineup is made of glass.

Super duper. 15-20%. There is always the feint hope clause. We have guys like Springer and Jano who cant stay on the field in their careers too. Ryu gone for the season. Mayza was out. Every team is going to fight injuries. Yanks aren't the only teams with injuries. We almost lost Vlad night - HBP.

Lets beat the Rays at the home in the WC series.

I didn't catch much of the Detroit series, but I just looked up their fangraphs page to see how Baez was doing. Good god, that team is awful. 2 hitters with 100+ PA's that have a positive WAR. Baez, Tork, Miggy, Grossman, Baddoo, Meadows - all just f***ing awful.

We've been ripping Semien for his poor start, but at least he's at 0.9 WAR on the season. Imagine signing Baez to that huge contract and watching him with a 47 wRC+ and a -0.3 WAR. Woof.

Yeah would have taken him out right after he lost the no-hitter especially at that high pitch count.

Just hate seeing a manager taking a guy out early after 7 innings when he's working a perfect game or no-no. Like Kershaw for example pulled after 7 innings and 80 pitches earlier this season.

Baez is one of the most overrated players in baseball.

Yeah that was ******** - pulling a often injured pitcher in his first start of the season after a shortened spring training. It's not like the Dodgers are gearing towards a long playoff run this year. Personal achievements should always come before the team!

Didn't Kershaw miss most of May anyways? I guess the plan worked! Not having him throw an extra 15-20 potential pitches in a historic game really helped keep him off the IL.

Semien top 10 in some fantasy last month. Top 3 last couple weeks… someone got him in BORED league for a first:(

He was a great buy low in fantasy. Anyone who traded pennies for him will greatly reap the benefits moving forward.

Right - you know what's best. Just waiting for those MLB guys to realize how smart you are!

So many homer picks but no Espinal? How dare you

Most of Espinals value is defensive versatility. Love the player but he'd not exciting enough for an All Star Selection.

He's the perfect player for the Jays though. He doesnt have the stats that will get him paid in arbitration and will still be worth 4+ WAR every year assuming he keeps his current skillset, which isnt much of a stretch. He's Ben Zobrist lite.

Edman - 3.2 WAR

Jazz - 2.1 WAR

What's not close?

Well i guess it is closer than I made it out, but I like HRs and bigger bats in the all star game, not speedy slashers and defense. For me the AS game isnt about celebrating who has the biggest fWAR, it's who makes the biggest noise with the bats.

Jazz brings the Thunder, Erdman moreso the lightning. Both are defensible picks at the end of the day i suppose.

Yeah I get that, but Edman is 3rd in the NL in WAR. Hard to ignore that no matter how to provides the value. I don't know about you, but I love watching great defense and base running. Jazz is a really exciting player and I want to see him at the AS game too. He's great for the game and the youth who watch the game.
