He turned down 10 years 275M from the Tigers before the lockout

Guess he REALLY didn’t want to play for a crappy team.

Speculation is Boras probably convinced him to essentially take a one year deal since Correas last agency would get a piece of any contract Correa signed this winter. Next offseason, he can try to cash out again and Boras doesnt have to split it with Correas old agent.

The Yankees could have had Correa (short term), Urshela, and Sanchez, but end up with Donaldson, IKF, and that catcher they got from the Twins. I mean, Sanchez sucks as a catcher but Correa/Urshela is a much better left side of the IF. They better hope Volpe turns into Jeter offensively.

I'm shocked with the Correa deal. I'm surprised he didn't take the Tigers off and just asked for an opt out clause after 3 years or something. This is the definition of "betting on yourself" so hope it works out for him.

This would be horrible news since both teams are our direct competition for the top spots in the AL.

Hopefully Shatkins can come over the top on a 1 year deal here. Is there a comp pick attached with Story?

Yes Story has a QO

Well... there goes the 1 year deal dream. We're not giving up a comp pick for that.

I don’t think he’s looking to sign for 1 year I think he’s willing to play 2B or 3B short term to fit a teams needs instead of saying he will only play SS

Can't blame him

I'm sure you get spoiled playing on a perennial WS contender where you get to play in the post season all the time

Going to a guaranteed last place team for bigger $ doesn't appeal to everyone

Such a weird deal. If he plays really well then it's essentially a 1 year deal. Can the Twins do enough this year to win seeing as Correa will want to leave after the season? Are the Twins really the best team for him to build his value before going back to free agency?

Could be good for him… lots of garbage pitching in the Central. And he still has some good hitters around him in the lineup

Fair point, that division has long been among the weakest in the game. Guess the Twins are banking on lightning in a bottle. Or maybe, they secretly hope he has an average season, re-ups for year two and then the team can make a few more additions and be ready to really compete.

Praying someone signs Joe Panik so I don't get a notification on my phone that the Jays have signed him to a minor league contract. I can't handle another season of Buntoyo giving him the occasional start as the DH.

Was Peter Gammons having a stroke while tweeting?

Sounds like the Twins are actively engaged with the Athletics to trade for a starting pitcher.

That first part of the sentence was supposed to say "I smell burnt toast and my arm is numb"

So Story could keep Sale and Paxton company on the IR..might as well go for the trifecta!
