The Blue Jays are expanding seating and opening the 500 level, pending approval

Seat map showing some of the new available tickets via Ticketmaster:

Notes:

• They still aren't opening to full capacity. From the looks of the map on Ticketmaster, the .500 level is only being opened on one side of the dome (above and behind home plate).

• Everyone attending the game will need to show proof of vaccination. Negative COVID tests aren't going to work anymore.

• Tickets in the .500 level start at $18.

• This still hasn't been approved from the government. If it gets denied, they'll refund all of the new tickets.

I'm kind of bummed about this a little bit. I was hoping that the next time they expanded seating, it would be to open at 100% capacity. This tells me that the new capacity they're aiming for is probably as good as it'll get for the rest of the season, even if they make the playoffs.

[glory]

I'm actually glad the Red Sox are going to get WC1. Hopefully the Jays get WC2, but man, the visual of 15k (or whatever BS capacity they decide by next month) in a Wild Card game would have been embarrassing. Of course, if the Jays were to host an ALDS game, then it would be 15k in one of those games too. I guess there's no avoiding it if the Jays were to make it and go on a deep run.

[Laika]

This seems really good. Those sections of the 500 level don't fill up anyway, and they would not if you have to show vaccination proof. In the playoffs they filled up, sure.

You have the most unusual posts. "I'm actually glad the team that I cheer for is failing for X esoteric reason" ...crowd capacity not to my liking, hoping the manager gets fired etc.

[JFD]

What's the point of enforcing vaccination for adults if kids can just come in and infect everyone.. LOL

Especially when the Rays scrape by with 10,000 and $10 seats. That's embarrassing.

Don't be a sissy! You can't fight off a little child sized COVID? Grow some balls!

Nothing unusual about hoping Charlie Montoyo gets fired. That's universal if you're a Jays fan other than you and a couple of others who might be trolling or playing devil's advocate. If it is unusual, then I'll wear that badge proudly.

As far as hosting the WC game, yes, it's a pointless thing for my own visual pleasure. A packed stadium with rabid fans is fun to watch. We don't see if often in regular season baseball. A Wild Card game is an instance where we get to see it. To watch a WC game on national TV with more empty seats than paying customers and pretending like it's being done for public safety rather than political optics is something I don't particularly care for. The Jays can win a game at Fenway anyway. Now, if the one game WC was in Tampa, then yes, I'd rather watch 15k in attendance than ever play a do or die in that stadium, but that's the only exception.

what the f*** is wrong with you?

The Jays can win a game at Fenway (or Yankee Stadium). I'm not worried about that. Getting in is more important.

15k is a joke, and having to beg for slightly more people to be allowed is even more of a joke, but this will lead to a political song and dance so we can just agree to disagree.

[Governator]

Not opening the 500s near the jumbotron is just common sense from their perspective for in season. It's likely not all going to sell out anyway and people end up buying those cheapest tickets and moving to empty seats worth double their price and they'd also have to open more concession stands. Just not worth catering to them probably.

Fenway holds 37K.... Jays will likely open to 35Kish with these limits in place.

If the Jays allow full capacity (not likely) or very, very close to it (not holding my breath), then you can ignore my nonsense above about the first WC. I was responding to the notion that they wouldn't increase capacity even for playoff games, which is BS.

They won't even sell out any of the remaining games anyways what difference does it make. Even at $20 a seat its going to be nearly impossible for them to sell 15k seats in less than a week even for the Yankees games.

There just isn't the same demand for tickets post covid..

But everyone in the building is going to be double vaccinated. Fill it up! Unless something is wrong with the vaccine? I thought everyone was safe now ; )

Funny thing, when i view your comment, the ad beneath it is to get vaccinated. LOL

That is funny. I would recommend an ad blocker : )

[Carlos Danger]

It should not be based upon if they could sell out anyway. The stadium should be at full capacity regardless if they are able to sell tickets. Anything less is crap. Tune into an SEC game tomorrow and you will see 90k in the stands, as it has been and should be.

I clink on them every once in a while just to help out the guy who maintains the site. No big deal, but i dont click on all the asian porn ones. No idea where they come from.

Not really! It's true most Americans don't give a s*** about others and are selfish. Have a look at the covid deaths in the US compared to Canada or any other country around the world for that matter. The numbers don't lie.

You guys do now? That's a relief.

[BlueJays]

I am double vaccinated and have been since early May. I tested positive for over three weeks in a row. Yet my neigbor who is not vaccinated tested negative. I could go to a Jays game and he couldn’t.

Don’t be a sheep.

Good job on doing your job of getting vaccinate. Not so much of your neighbor.

Over 76% of adult have at least one shot, the numbers don't lie, you don't know what you are talking about

And they're dying. Over 700K deaths now. In the 1980's you would have been downplaying aids. Your stance on this is inexcusable and uninformed.
