DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 What a stupid AB by Hernandez He took a hanging breaking ball the second pitch, got to try and smash that.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 It's more they don't hit in late innings. Yup. No need to sugar coat it with lame excuses
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 It would be nice if Vlad figures it out soon. These big games down the stretch are where stars need to be stars.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 People whining about extra innings, you realize the Jays got a runner on 2nd too, right? They scored 2 runs in 15 innings. Winning one is impressive based on that. The rule is annoying but every team has to deal with it.
Scion Verified Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 The Jays need to adjust their approach at the plate in extras. They fail to register a run far too often.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Lets take 3 for 4 with a win tomorrow. If I said before the series that we take 3 of 4 we would all take it.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Hopefully they tinker with it and start it in the 12th or something. I can respect trying to get the games over with but there needs to be 2 innings of normal play
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I guess Bo must have been sitting breaking ball 3-1 and just f***ed up the swing?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Author Posted August 8, 2021 Bo's probably never hit a ball that short in his life. Anything harder than that brings Vladdy in. Sometimes it's just not in the cards. f***ing hate the Red Sox.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 This game isn't over yet without the extra inning rule. It's the worst thing to happen to baseball in many years Words can't Express how much I hate it and how bad it is for the viewing experience.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Now if we lose tomorrow, a series split. Blah That's the spirit!

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Hopefully the bats wake against s*** bag Richards tomorrow.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Bo shortened up and was just trying to punch a ball or get it in the OF. He got beat by a good 3-1 pitch. Must have been looking slider or would have taken it? Teo’s AB was worse but got set up by 97 inside on black. Not sure why he took the hung slider for 2nd strike. Guessing fastball? bad guess. Disappointing. Well we have a shot at 3/4.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Unfortunately the Yankees and A’s keep winning. Jays need to win tomorrow. A split would be terrible.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 We know, Grant. It can't be said enough times.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 It can't be said enough times. We should have a separate thread for it. It turns GDT into same thing every time we are in extras. I don’t mind the rule. It’s the same for both teams. Find a way to make it work for you at the plate.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Seriously how did Vlad's ball in the 7th not go out. Frustrating
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 We hate the rule for both teams, not just the other team ffs. lol But I’ll shut up if people are that sensitive about it.

Yeah, if the Jays got a single in the extra inning like the Red Sox did, or Bo hit a fly ball, then the game is tied again, and the Jays would have scored in the same BS way the Red Sox did. The Jays just happened to fail in the extra inning. Either way, it's not the reason the Jays lost. If you score one run in a game, then you're either going to have to throw a shutout or lose, and the Jays luckily were able to split the two games.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Seriously how did Vlad's ball in the 7th not go out. Frustrating Yeah definitely. The look on Barnes’ face when Vlad made contact was priceless. Would have been so sweet if it went out

The rule ruins the viewing experience for the great majority of fans and destroys one of the best aspects of the game. If you like watching baseball, then gimmicks that artificially shorten the most exciting part are bad. Period.

No, the vast majority don’t view the 11th inning of a regular season game to be the most exciting part. That’s why they tried the new way. Most will turn off the game from tv and go to bed. That’s all the casuals that make up the majority of viewers. Sounds like baseball is doing the smart thing and making a compromise next year

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 The Jays need to adjust their approach at the plate in extras. They fail to register a run far too often. I liked Semien's approach leading off in extras. He tried to go the other way a few times and eventually stayed in the middle of the field driving one deep enough to advance Vladdy to third. Bo just messed up in his at bat, simple as that.
