Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 They couldn't say it's "outdoors" and sell more tickets for a game and then have it pour rain and they have to close the dome and cancel seat sales. It will all be considered indoors. For the massive difference in quantity of tickets they can sell, I'm the sure the Jays wouldn't get hurt if they experienced a few rain delays in the worst case. Is be going that route for sure if I cared about increasing revenue, which most businesses are about.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Feel like we're gonna have an open Dome regardless if it rains or not. The difference between the numbers of people allowed in a closed dome stadium vs an open one is too massive. Will we see our first real rain delay in Rogers Center history? There has been at least one rain delay at the Skydome. I distinctly remember the game (and the cover of the Toronto Sun the following day). For the massive difference in quantity of tickets they can sell, I'm the sure the Jays wouldn't get hurt if they experienced a few rain delays in the worst case. Is be going that route for sure if I cared about increasing revenue, which most businesses are about. There's no drainage at the dome. They will not risk it to sell more tickets.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Rogers Center approved as an outdoor facility, regardless of if it's open or closed.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 The turf, sound system and batting cages have also been upgraded since they last played there. Shapiro said the old cages were among the worst in the league and the new ones are among the best.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Yeah you're wrong for sure. It'll just be considered indoors. I guess I was wrong. Doesn't make a difference though, it looks like they have a seating capacity that is the same regardless of whether it's open or closed

They said they're gonna consider themselves an outdoor venue and try to keep the roof open as much possible. It's why there'll be 15,000 since there would be like 5K otherwise. It's win/win for the players and fans so I'm happy.

Hopefully over time the capacity will be increased as a larger percentage of the population becomes fully vaccinated.

Speaking of which, Canada passed the United States in percentage of fully vaccinated people today, so we're trending in the right direction.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 I was at that game...gives me chills, man. Thank god we rebranded and got new uniforms. f***. But - I love that commercial. I generally love all the Jays commercials they've done over the years. Jays back home? Let's f***ing go! Makes me emotional thinking about it. I don't know what tickets will cost, but you bet you're ass I'm taking my 3 boys to a game this year.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Looking to get some tickets for one of the whitesox games near the end of August and then maybe a couple in September. Still have like 300$ on my account from having my 2020 ticket pack refunded... Hoping it won’t be super difficult to actually buy tickets straight from the Jays. Secondary/resell market is likely going to be ridiculous.

I’ll definitely be waiting on my computer as soon as tickets go live

bronson44 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Yeah,I'm worried season ticket holders are going to gobble up most tickets and then flip them for huge profit on the secondary market.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 More info on tickets: - tickets only available right now for the first homestand (July 30th to August 8th) - can buy regular or physically distanced seats - only 100s and 200s sections available - max 8 tickets per account - private suites are available for purchase (minimum 6 people) There's still a decent amount of tickets available, but they'll definitely sell out quickly tomorrow
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Also note, as soon as you click the link to buy tickets you get put into a virtual queue. So if you're planning on buying tix tomorrow I would try to click the link before the actual sale time
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 How much are Jays tickets selling for? I can't find anything on the website

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Got 2 for the Red Sox August 8th - taking my 5 year old, it's going to be awesome!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Got 2 for the Red Sox August 8th - taking my 5 year old, it's going to be awesome! Nice! I was planning to go on the Saturday August 7th game so I bought tix to that, but now im realizing there's supposed to be a double header which means it will only be a 7-inning game.... although they didn't have game 2 of the DH for sale?? Maybe it will be single admission... They did say SPLIT doubleheader though which usually means separate tickets, so there could be more tickets coming up for sale over the next few days!

Not because I'm worried about the virus, but because I'd love to take up 5 seats. One for my body and one for each limb. I hope this virus never ends.

Not having to get up twice an inning to let people who are too impatient to wait for the beer guy to come by, or those with small bladders would be a dream come true.
