This team would be 12 games over .500 if the bullpen wasn't such garbage. Unless they score 18 runs the bullpen comes in and blows just about any lead they have. What a bunch of scrubs! I knew pitching would be the downfall of this team but I assumed it would be starting pitching and that has done well enough to win plenty of games but the back end is a complete joke. Maybe this offseason they can find some more relievers to sign coming off major arm injuries, stupid stupid stupid

Do you watch the games? If you do then you see the bullpen blow game after game after game, stats are irrelevant. Where do they rank in losses and blown saves?

His post is pointing out how atrocious they've been since May 15

Its amazing that they dont luck into more wins given how often they go into the 7th inning with a lead. Its been historically bad the last few weeks. The two walks offs, and then what happened last night are unacceptable.

Do you watch the games? At the beginning of the season, the bullpen was excellent. Until all the injuries piled up... since then they’re been extremely bad. One of the worst.

The K rate is still middle of the pack though, which makes me believe the bloated ERA is mainly due to walks and errors. That makes sense given what we’re witnessing every night.

I would guess their walk rate since May is probably bottom 3 worst in the league. Hard to do anything when you just keep walking guys.

At least if you’re putting the ball in play some will turn into outs and you’ll find some luck. That’s literally impossible when Chatwood comes in and walks 4 straight.

Do you watch every team play? How else do you use the ole eye test to claim they are the worst in baseball? Maybe you could use the ole eye test to know there are plenty of avenues to voice or pile on your disgruntled view on the bullpens performance. A new thread for this is a bad as our bullpen.

He just likes to paint everyone as an overreacting casual so he can come off as the voice of reason.

This is accurate, but I will say that more often then not, he uses facts and is generally correct. That said, in this case, I'll say I think he's a little off base.

Bullpen reinforcements ARE on the way. Just a matter of time.

Hatch and Murphy are currently rehabbing

Bergen, Borucki, Cole, and Merryweather are on the IL but not out for the season (yet...)

Pearson may become a pen option at some point

But don't expect some random AAA guys like Hobie Harris or Bryan Baker to come up and make any difference.

I'm very surprised the numbers since May 15th aren't worse. I just assumed we would be last in both WAR and ERA because of how bad the bullpen has looked in that time.

For the teams that are supposed to be playoff contenders I'm sure they are. The Pirates, Rockies, Orioles, etc. might be worse but it's irrelevant they are 50-60 win teams regardless. The Jays are going to miss the playoffs simply because what this bullpen has done over the past month. It's not realistic to think they will overcome 8-10 losses that should have been wins in that short time.

Bergen, Borucki, Cole, and Merryweather are on the IL but not out for the season (yet...) MERRYWEATHER WAS THE ONE GUY THAT LOOKED LIKE HE COULD BE GREAT AND OF COURSE HE GETS HURT AFTER 3 GAMES, THOSE OTHER 3 AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE MUCH OF ANYTHING

Pearson may become a pen option at some point - LMAO, THIS GUY SUCKS... I DON'T CARE WHAT HE DOES IN TRIPLE A OR IF HE THROWS 100 HE PITCHES LIKE CRAP EVERY TIME THEY BRING HIM UP

It’d be interesting to see it broken down further into high-leverage situations

Alright, so you're a f***ing moron. Moving on...

Is that how this site works, the moderators can toss out personal insults at will and face no repercussions while if a regular member does it I get a ban?

I don't believe anyone from the Jays FO said this was supposed to be a playoff year. I always got the impression that this was sort of a "bring everything together" kinda year and next year would be the start of the push...

I mean, nobody realistically saw Vladdy going from slightly-above-average (below expectations) to "BEST f***ING PLAYER IN BASEBALL HOLY s***!", most assumed he'd approach this level, but that it would happen gradually.

I can't recall anyone being banned for insults as tame as "you're a f***ing moron". I certainly haven't banned anyone for anything like that...

Well I doubt they cam out and said that it wasn't. I'm not suggesting they were expected to win the division but certainly a wildcard spot was a goal. When you're handing out 6 year, 150 mil. contracts it's not to be a .500 team

Yeah Jays made playoffs last year, young core, and they spent on Springer and signed notable one year deals. Pretty silly to say they weren’t thinking playoffs this year

Made the expanded playoffs. Made a decision to not spend on pitching when it was the obvious need... They were probably thinking "maybe the wildcard", but they weren't planning a parade.

If someone posts a moronic baseball opinion then you can call them a moron. We have a long and proud history of this.

And yes, the mods all get special treatment. Other than Deadpool. He's on thin ice.
