I think there is a difference between punishable behaviour and cancellable behaviour. This is the Blue Jays essentially cancelling Alomar. There are levels to bad behaviour and I'm curious to see where this goes. This is an incident that happened several years ago, I don't know what "several" means yet, but the bar on what is cancellable and what is punishable has changed mostly in the last couple. I'm not saying it's wrong to fire him, it's probably the right call, looks like he obviously did SOMETHING, but to try to erase him, I need to really know more.

 

I will say that I don't pretend to love the people the athletes are, because I have no clue who the f*** these people are, I celebrate their accomplishments. I've never told myself that Alomar or anybody else was a saint. If we were to abandon every player that has ever portrayed objectionable behaviour towards women, or ever made a racist, sexist or homophobic comment, or more likely thousands of them, we should just burn the HOF to the ground and any mention or monuments those players have around baseball. It's tough to retroactively apply todays standards, even to just a few years ago because so much has changed and is changing regarding attitudes, norms and severity & breadth of punishments even if the rules and laws themselves have not really changed.

A few memories of his time in town.

 

No other Toronto pro athlete generated this kind of chatter over the last 4 decades.

A) A friend told me his coworker was at his nephewÂ’s church confirmation party in a very unfinished basement in Brampton, and he looks across the room and itÂ’s RA standing there. HeÂ’s there as the date of a woman totally out of his league.

 

I met 3 likewise women who told me RA asked them on a date, then announced 2 minutes after they got into the limo what his sexual intentions were, this ending the date. All 3 held the thumb/ finger L sign on their forehead, thing to do at the time.

 

C) a clearly mentally ill woman showed up at SkyDome on game day with a gun and said she was going to shoot RA for sleeping with her and not calling her the next day. The media laughed but I had no trouble believing her.

The incident was in 2014. That has been released.

 

It could be something as innocuous as a couple of a couple of jokes said to the wrong person or it could be an actual criminal act. I don't expect that we'll ever find out, but my opinion of him won't change either way.

 

The Level of Excellence is for a player's exploits on the field and should have remained that way, but obviously that won't be the case going forward. Maybe we can replace him with John McDonald.

Also, "exchanging" text messages is very interesting wording. I have always been minding my own business when this retard comes charging in, randomly texting me about some ********, assuming my positions on things, probably to feel better about himself, his bald head and tiny penis. It's never a "hey, how are you?" Even though that itself would be weird. It's always something like "lulz do u beet wimminz?!" I'm tired of this harrassment. I should have never joined that stupid BJMB WhatsApp as I'd never give this idiot my number otherwise.
