Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 No way Merryweather can stay healthy as a starter. Agreed. Guys 28 or so and still trying to be something his body's telling him he can't be. Hope he proves us wrong but seems like the perfect bullpen candidate.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 No way Merryweather can stay healthy as a starter. Thanks, Doctor Thicc!
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Fake if Hazel is reporting it. He's probably throwing 85-86.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 I was getting really optimistic and pumped scrolling through all the videos and pictures of our team ITT. Then I came to a video of Buntoyo and I felt a sudden flash & surge of impending dread. Oh well, a manager doesnt make that much difference right?

I choose to believe he has less autonomy in making decisions than we all think he actually does. The stress on the word “collaboration” when he was first hired makes me think this front office is approving game time decisions such which pitcher to bring in during a blow out/close game, who to bring in based on matchups, lineup construction and positioning. And that inspires more confidence in me, because they have a lot more information than we do about putting players in the best position to succeed.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 God damn, SWR's delivery is smooth as butter.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Vlad looks like he is in pretty good shape, glad he took his s*** seriously in the off season.

I think in game he might do more than you're suggesting.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 God damn, SWR's delivery is smooth as butter. Yeah I don't personally see the big arm lag that people suggest may lead to arm injuries or push him into the pen.

One of his biggest issues, IMO, was linepup construction, and there aren't a lot of ways you could screw up this lineup (inb4 Jansen batting leadoff for the first third of the season...)
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Looks huge next to Pardinho
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I really wonder how many of our top prospects make their MLB debuts this season. So to hard gauge them with the missed MILB season, but these guys haven't exactly been sitting around twiddling their thumbs either. Getting lots of work in at the Dunedin facilities against stiff competition and training their asses off too by the sounds of it. Specifically guys like Martin, Groshans, SWR and Manoah. It'll be interesting if guys like that make a push. There isn't too many turds left on the 40 man that you can't wait to see get punted.
