Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Manoah's been great, but how come his fastball doesn't average 95 mph? I see other top prospects averaging 95+. He is 6'6. We regularly compare him to Lynn, but doesn't Lynn average 95+ with his FB? I think he can, he wasn't accurate with it after the first game at all and they (or him) had him dial it back to throw strikes

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I thought he just throws cutters and 2 Seamers, no? No more 4 seamers. I was thinking the same thing. The Marcus Stroman approach. Feels likes he's abandoned the 4-seamer
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Probably not gonna happen if you look at what is going on... In certain places ... With certain things... So should I think twice about booking a flight to Toronto late September
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Statline through 10 starts: 4-1, 10 GS, 2.58 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, .179 opp BA, 10.32 K/9, 3.27 BB/9, 0.7 fWAR
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Honestly I'm starting to get worried that the government might pull the exemption if the numbers keep going up. Nah, vaccinated MLB teams coming in are not going to make much of any difference in covid at this point.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Nah, vaccinated MLB teams coming in are not going to make much of any difference in covid at this point. I'm sure some people will be hoping the exemption gets pulled but I suspect a lot more will be for maintaining the status quo. IMHO the feds with the election coming will not bring back the lockdowns!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Any word on Pearson or Merryweather. Having one or both of these guys in the bullpen would be HUGE!

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 After last night's offensive outburst, we now have the highest team batting average, wOBA, and slugging percentage in the league. Poor baserunning and defense prevent us from leading in WAR.

Pearson is closer to a return by the end of the month if not sooner. Merryweather is still playing catch....out for a month has turned into 3 months.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Pearson's first rehab game got rained out today Hes going to be coming back as reliever right?

jimedmonds Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 keeping Semien seems unlikely, but what do you guys think Ray will command on the market? assuming Pearson regains form, I could definitely live with a rotation of Berrios, Ryu, Ray, Manoah, and Pearson next season.

Don't forget about chicken strip. If they don't trade him he will factor into the rotation next season. Pearson? I have my doubts, but here's to hoping. Ryu Berrios Manoah Stripling Re-sign Ray and you have a very solid starting 5 with Hatch and Pearson hopefully healthy and right there too.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Lately I've been having a premonition of a Noah Syndergaard homecoming. He's exactly the kind of moderate price, high-reward rotation signing this front office faps to. And he enjoyed his time in the organization, and long-time fans would have a circle jerk bukkake to have our prodigal son return.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I'd rather bring back Ray than go after Thor. At least Ray is durable. Syndergaard could be Pearson's IL buddy.

What do you think he would command in a deal? - 2 or 3YR high AAV - 1YR super high AAV - 4 or 5YR medium AAV - etc?

Something like 1 year, $18M or 2 years, $32M. He basically hasn't pitched in 2 years and I don't see any teams offering him long term deals.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 What's it going to cost to keep Ray around? 4 years, $60-80 million?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 What's it going to cost to keep Ray around? 4 years, $60-80 million? That sounds fair for both sides on the upper end, but if Ray finishes the year strong I wouldn't be surprised to see him earn even more.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 What's it going to cost to keep Ray around? 4 years, $60-80 million? Yeah I think in that range. Actually very comparable to Eovaldi after 2018, who signed a four year deal for 64M.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Hes going to be coming back as reliever right? Yep. Rest of this season as a reliever

Expensive but worth it imo. And if Pearson proves his worth in AAA as a SP and is ready, you trade one of the Top 5 for a massive return and then promote him.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I hope they sign Semien over Ray if they have to choose one. I dont care how desparately they need pitching
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Ryu Berrios Ray Manoah Syndergaard Stripling Pearson Hatch Yeah, that would be outstanding.
