I don't get this front office sometimes. Axford has been throwing darts in AAA and regularly hitting upper 90's. But instead of calling him up they stick with Barnes for too long when it's become apparent he's not effective. And they would rather being Thornton back, who was getting absolutely hammered this season. And finally they bring up Snead instead of Axford. Snead will probably see like 1 or 2 innings before getting sent back down.

Reading 2nd GDT yesterday. Lots of complaints about matz. Can’t say I disagree but curious how he stacks up as a 5th starter in AL. Thinking few teams have much better there. Bottom line we scored 1 run at Fenway and won’t win many games that way with this teams construction.

4.01 FIP, 3.84 xFIP. He is doing fine. Arguably better than league average production so certainly better than most 5th or even 4th SP.

Kinda feels like someone was like. Hey Ax wants to pitch. He's part of the family now that he's in the booth. He did pretty well with the Canadian Olympic team. OK he's part of the family, we'll indulge the fantasy. He's not going to do well enough in the minors to justify a spot and he'll be grateful we gave him a shot.

 

At some point they're going to have to bring him up if he keeps putting zeros up or why did you give him this opportunity in the first place.
