Is that the game at the Field Of Dreams ballfield?

No - that's on August 12th and it's the Yankees v. White Sox

That should be a special night.

Boys the Jays won’t be in Toronto this year. Get used to Buffalo, might become their permanent home.

San Antonio, Charlotte, Las Vegas, or Nashville are the expansion candidates. Doubt it will be Buffalo permanently.

Nashville would be fitting. They aren't afraid of the unvaxed there.

Sigh. Just as a reminder the worst outbreak in professional sports occurred on the Vancouver Canucks, despite the efforts of the Canadian government... yes this was before we had vaccines, but the Canadian government did everything they could to "keep us safe". They prevented the Canuck's from travelling to the States, and it was worthless. They still had an outbreak as did other Canadian teams. The NHL Canadian bubble teams all had COVID problems and likely spread COVID in their communities a bit... We can't ban everything forever, so I don't hold it against them. However I do want to point out that the Canadian NHL bubble wasn't that "safe".

MLB teams, mostly 85+ % vaxed with daily testing will be way safer than the Canadian NHL teams were last spring.

This sucks man, let the Jays back. They are abiding by strict protocols/testing that is different than normal people.

If TFC is back then Jays are back?

You're very behind.

Jays won't be back because only vaxxed personnel are allowed to come. Not vaxxed, they stay in the US. There is no way that will fly in the mlb.

Hard to imagine mlbpa agreeing to that. Jays probably stay in Buffalo.

Yeah, no chance the MLBPA agrees to that. They'll be staying in Buffalo at least for the rest of this season.

WTF does "expansion candidates" have to do with anything? Rogers will NEVER move the team from Toronto.

Not one person has explained how this resolves. When and under what circumstances to the Jays come back?

There is no way the union will mandate vaccines. So does the government give an exception eventually? Perhaps they give exceptions for NHL and that breaks the stalemate, but alternatively they could just keep the Canadian bubble.

Not sure there is any reason at this point to think this will end next year. Covid is looking like it will be endemic with vaccines helping but variants arising and continued case counts. What guarantee is there the team can play in Toronto next year? What if they start in Toronto and then they close the border because of a variant wave?

Is Rogers even making money with attendance of 300,000 a year?

It ends with capitulation/acceptance by the government(s) of the new reality. Who knows when that happens in all of the different countries/states. We are already in a reality where certain places have laws and policies that are imagining a basically Covid19 free world (which is not true) and other places are still using laws and policies that are imagining a raging and unstoppable pandemic killing or maiming a large portion of the population (which is not true).

It sucks, man.

Who f***ing knows what happens in the next year.

Its true, responses tend to be so extreme on this issue. We have to just live with it and fight it at the same time. I think boosters will be around awhile with morphing variants. Nobody knows for sure what this looks like in 22 or beyond.

Personally, it pisses me off some players just don't get vaccinated but thats going to be the norm. Put what precautions in place that you can actually enforce, and open up the border...including baseball.

Rogers could shutter the Skydome forever and have the team play to an empty stadium and still make bank.

The Jays are free, high value content for their sports stations. Anything on top of that is a bonus for them.

They already gave exceptions to the NHL. The Vegas Knights and TB Lightening played in Montreal. I'm willing to bet that not all their players were vaccinated. There is zero reason the Bluejays shouldn't be playing in Toronto by the beginning of August with MLB's protocols in place.

Jays will be approved. The people who would be upset about that would vote NDP/super-left/anti-conservative anyways. The people who would be happy about it would tend to lean between CPC and LPC, in key battleground areas in the GTA. This is an easy slam dunk win for the LPC right before a proposed fall election. Don't pretend that it has to do with absolutely anything else.

Doesn't matter anyway. Aliens will be here on the 18th.

Wrong. We have extracted a potent toxin from the murder hornets which will provide earth with the necessary defenses for the alien offensive. They will not pass.

Overeaction chicken little...Jays will be in TO this year.

Dr. Howard Njoo, Canada's deputy chief public health officer, says Blue Jays application for national interest exemption "is trending in a very good direction at this point, we're looking at last details," but "I can't give you a date on when a possible decision might be made."

Last details = can Justin please throw out the first pitch at the first game back?

This would be a high stakes gamble for JT. If he smoked a heater down the middle like GWB, he would lock-up a re-election. But if he 50 Cents it, he'd be a goner.

Joe Biden should be invited to throw out the first pitch. He's done a great job re-opening getting those who want to be vaccinated, vaccinated, and also subtly caring for both the new normals (I myself have been RNAd and am a new normal) and old-style humans.

Honestly us new normals go to the stores, the games, the bowling allies, along side old-styles and no one knows who is who unless you advertise. It's OK.

Joe Biden for first pitch, not Canadian but has helped us get along.

Don't forget, Trump takes back the White House on August 13 so that should cause a stir if the aliens thing doesn't.

As much as I hate Trudeau and despite his tendency to sit like a woman, that boxing match he won does suggest to me that he has just enough testosterone to throw a baseball sixty feet accurately and with gusto. It will go well for him.
