Not sure how legit this guy is but seems pretty adamant in the comments.

Saw this as well. Bring them home

I don't believe that s*** from a nobody. I'll wait for a real source, kudos to him if he's right.

Yeah I can't really believe a tweet from a unverified "twitter blogger".

I can see them returning for August 20th but still no fans. This is not even a provincial decision, this is a federal government thing whether they want to open the borders or not.

And he keeps bringing up the NHL, those guys lived in strict bubbles. And it was 2 teams, lol.

The Blue Jays themselves have basically no control over this. It's governments and the players' union.

Jays are definitely in on this? Shapiro himself has said he's spoke with the PM, OPM, etc all the time.

I'm sure they're talking but they don't have too much say in when things can happen.

As figured... conjecture.

Rowdy Tellez finding his stroke and getting some confidence going. Rowdy and Captain Kirk are helping the Bisons rack up some wins!

Team says they need 3 weeks to prepare for home games at the RC

If they don't get approved soon enough for July 30 they will aim for August 20

Wonder how many fans will be allowed. And if they’ll enforce some kind of vaccination policy to attend.

They will have a vaccination policy no doubt. I believe they have that now to get into games at Buffalo. Provide proof of vaccination or negative covid test.

I dont believe so in Buffalo. When it was 50% capacity, vaccinated could sit anywhere behind 3B dugout. Unvaccinated had to still distance between groups on the 1B side. Now it's anyone with no restrictions. In Toronto no idea what they will do

From the Blue Jays website

The Blue Jays are hosting fans in full capacity at Sahlen Field, with tickets on sale now for games from June 24 to July 21. In accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines announced June 15, all seating sections are available to all fans regardless of vaccination status. Fans no longer need to show proof of vaccination to enter Sahlen Field and physical distancing and face covering requirements have been eased.

Update: As a test case they sent Mike Wilner to a game in Buffalo. FAQ on Mike's trip

How was Mike Wilner allowed to cross the border?

Surprisingly Mike is half American.

Is Mike Wilner Vaccinated?

Mike Wilner has been vaccinated several times.

Did Mike Wilner survive?

He posted on twitter 30 minutes ago, so presumably he survived so far. We will keep an eye on him though.

Did he announce the game?

No. They streamed Buck and Pat's feed from TV. As much as Mike annoys me sometimes I sure wish they let him announce. I never know what the f*** is going on listening to Pat and Buck without the picture.

Did he think it was safe?

Somewhat, I think. He got freaked out though when he saw Americans drinking out of the water fountain without a mask.

So can we have games in Toronto now?

No idea. They might wait a few weeks to see what happens to Wilner and then decide... Maybe next year if Mike has no long term effects from his trip to the game. Or who knows, maybe this year?

In fairness it would be difficult to drink water from a drinking fountain without a mask.

Given how slow Canada has been to approve this, my guess is the Jays will be playing in either an empty stadium or capacity that is so small that they'd have more fans in the stands if they stay in Buffalo. I don't live in Canada, so I'm sure I'll be wrong on that (hope so) but I don't think they go 0 to 100 on this one. Even 0 to 25 is a push.

Sahlen field only seats 16k so they'd really only need about 33% capacity at Rogers Center to reach the same number of fans. Might feel like less of an atmosphere with the same number of people spread out over a larger area in a concrete dome though

Anybody know our record in 1 run games compared to the Red Sox and Rays?

Jays 6-10

Red Sox 17-8
