John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 That's racist. No it’s not. Racism is attaching negative connotation to race. Making an extremely intelligent joke centered around 2 Japanese men who are leaping out of a supply closet in an attempt to surprise someone while saying “Supplies” is another level of genius.

Yeah, I'm only messing. I thought it was a genius line as well.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Best joke in whole movie is when the two Asian guys jumped out of the broom closet and yelled “Supplies!” An Ex and I had a running gag with that one. We had it planned out that when I died (I'm a good chunk older than her) my last word on my death bed was going to be "Supplies!"
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Yeah, I'm only messing. I thought it was a genius line as well. Glad we’re on the same page. So many equate racism with anything that even mentions race and it drives me nuts

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Deadpool and John_Havok are exactly the two guys who I would expect to get nostalgic over Weird Al

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Deadpool and John_Havok are exactly the two guys who I would expect to get nostalgic over Weird Al Weird Al is a bit hit and miss, but Amish Paradise, It's All About the Pentiums, and The Sega Begins are great! (The music videos for them are pretty good too!)

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Deadpool and John_Havok are exactly the two guys who I would expect to get nostalgic over Weird Al There's nothing to get nostalgic about. Weird Al continues to be at the top of his game, as he has been for decades. He is the only "funny" musical act that manages to work, and he keeps killing it album after album! But yeah, that's a bit on brand for me, innit?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Surprising that he turned down 1/13 to become a free agent.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Myabe wants to go back to Japan? hard to imagine him getting more in AAV with how he has performed thus far in MLB. He had a 3.85 xFIP this year and 3.78 last year, more than a strikeout an inning and averages 95 mph. He'll probably get more, not less. He really just needs to cut down on the long ball a little. Actually, I'd be quite happy with us giving him 4/60.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Buster Posey is reportedly retiring. Crazy considering he’s only 34 and just put up a 5 WAR season

He's also consistently underperformed that xfip in all 3 seasons he has pitched. haven't Looked deep into the numbers to try and explain why yet but this the the guy who gets a pillow deal to prove something, not a 4 year/60 million dollar payday.

Kudos for Buster going out on top, filthy rich…and it might be racial bias but he seems like a guy that has been smart managing his money

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I don’t think it dumb at all. Just be honest and say it’s racist and you don’t like it. As a fan of another team, of course you’re not going to break it out at a game, or admit it’s cool. But if you grew up a Braves fan and you’re at a game with some beers if you, you’d be doing it unless it’s a PC thing for you f*** off with your typical ******** response. I hated the dumb ass Chop in 92 and I hated it 29 years later 2021. Also, I'm not an indigenous person but i don't dismiss those who do find it stereotypical and offensive, as woke SJWs "PCs". However, glad the Braves won.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Good for Posey. He's 35 before next season starts, his body is probably beaten up after a career catching. With 3 world series titles, a ticket to Cooperstown punched, and a boatload of career earnings, it's nice to see him go out while still performing at a high level.

You have my apologies then. In 1992 they were much more a rival than the Yanks for Sox then, so can definitely understand hating it then and carrying over. But rooting interests aside, I think it’s a unique form of cheer that goes well with a few beers or general excitement, so I get it

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Posey was one of the best catchers in the history of baseball for those 5 years from 2012 onward.
