I don't like the name. Is there some kind of connection to the city or it's history? Seems like they pulled it out of a hat. Spiders was a nearly unanimous choice amongst Indians fans.

Dolan chose Guardians so they can reuse the "dians" portion for all the stadium signs and save some cash

what's the history there?

Where the Spiders or Guardians, Cleveland were once called the Spiders for a decade or so, as for the Guardians IDK.

Splurged to get Tom Hanks. He makes it all sound great. I really don't care too much either way.

Thanks so the Guardian Statues from the bridge are the Guardians of Cleveland, I get it I guess. It's still s***** Cleveland. Spiders had more of a baseball connection though. Ain't my team.

This looks incredible. Great job by MLB. I can't see from these pictures, but I assume there's a fence 'just' in front of the corn eh? yeah, has to be, but they seemingly have done a great job with the promo photos to make it look like there isn't so it replicates the movie.

That's going to be so cool

Have to watch the movie this weekend

You can just see barely see the fence. It's more noticeable in LF with there being some kind of pathway behind it there.

The teams will have to be wearing throwback jerseys, right?

I'd have to think so yes. They should make them wear the throwback gloves and catchers gear too just to spice things up!

Weird for the Rays

I hope this has nothing to do with deGrom. Rays have too much pitching, I wonder what they're getting back. Still an odd move.

Deal is done pending medicals, hmm...

Doesn't make any sense.

Rays must have a few more moves coming for sure

They wouldn't just trade Hill away otherwise

Unless they think he's out of juice and the Mets are just that desperate

The only above-average starter the Rays have on their roster as of now is Shane McLanahan (102 ERA+). The others are Ryan Yarborough (86 ERA+), Michael Wacha (77 ERA+). And then a collection of long men/opener types.

Gotta think they trade for a starter or two here soon.

I don't know who they would target though

They seemingly couldn't afford to keep Snell or Morton who were both on reasonable contracts

They need good Glasnow back

Those long men opener types have that pen #1 in the league, Archer's a start or two away from coming back, They might just call up an RP or 2 slight chance they call up Baz, he's been lights out.

I forgot about Mckay what happened to that dude? Is he still hitting?

Not anymore... they think it slowed down his development yada, yada...

Prospects TLDR: He needs to stay healthy and arguably focus exclusively on pitching, but McKay has solid stuff than plays up due to outstanding command.

RotoWire News: McKay (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch in a rehab appearance Tuesday for the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. (7/19/2021)

He's on his way back from injury, he'll be a multi inning SP/RP later in the season, much like Pearson but later.
