Robo Umps not up to snuff, obviously.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 lol... that's really bad. Robo Umps not up to snuff, obviously. I read somewhere players were basically 50/50 on them (accuracy wise, something about breaking pitches low in the zone) but I guess that doesn’t mean much. They don’t like whoever is calling a strike

They don’t like whoever is calling a strike That was not accurate, if they bring it to MLB, it needs to be accurate. Judging by that strike call, the pitchers and hitters would be 50-50 for sure, lol.

Well I’m going to assume it’s not that bad even near consistently or it wouldnt have made it out of the experimental stage… or would’ve quickly been canceled after the first few games

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 I've seen human umps make worse calls, so *shrug*. Robo umps are suppose to be 100% though. Apparently they are having issues this season, which is not good for their potential in the near future

Evan Gattis openly admits to the cheating scandal and says "it was f***ing fun." Admits to being one of the proponents for it. Mentions that they didn't feel bad doing it at the time because every team in the majors was cheating in one way or another. Says Astros players called Dodgers players and told them to be cool because they knew how the Dodgers were cheating. Thought part of the reason the Astros got blown up for it was because they went through the Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers.

Ray Verified Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Taijuan Walker named an all-star. Season stats: 16 GS, 2.50 ERA, 3.16 FIP, 8.9 K/9

Season stats: 16 GS, 2.50 ERA, 3.16 FIP, 8.9 K/9 He's an interesting case, because up until this season, he was always a guy with mediocre-bad peripherals. This season that hasn't been the case the peripherals caught up to the results. With hindsight, we obviously should have signed him but can't blame them for not.

His numbers this year are not far off his career averages? He was a MLB full time starter at age 22, effectively missed 2 and a half seasons to injury and then COVID. IMO, Walker is right where he should be expected to be, back to his career numbers or a bit better, at this point in his recovery from injury.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Walker is an obvious miss at this point but I’d also feel good about Odorizzi rn. That’s the trade off with doing one year deal vs. a few. It’s not a now-or-never situation. Though in fairness we don’t know if Ray would’ve gone more than one, Semien likely wouldn’t have (on reasonable offer). But if Jays don’t go anywhere this year, I’d much rather have spent MS’s money on Odorizzi and Walker. Hindsight of course

RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 If we are gonna cry about missing Walker then can we jerk off about how we won the Ray trade? Especially if he re signs in the off season. Or the Stripling trade (so far)

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 How? How do we re-sign him or his are they comparable? In the offseason there was discussion about re-signing Walker. Some said he's comparable to Roark. I was being facetious.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Yankees might be bringing Aroldis in for the 9th, 1-0 game. This could be good.
