That's a good point. I don't know what the repercussions would be if LA disciplined him outside the purview of the league's DV policy, but it could very well be negligible.

This - not just this tweet - but in general, is what I was referring to when I said Bauer is going to be cancelled forever. Whether or not you or I agree with the opinions in this thread, the outrage crowd is kicking and screaming. Bauer has spent years building himself up as the villain and now people want to take him down.

I'd agree if it was a lesser known player, like Adam Frazier. Bauer has been trolling fans for years and built up an angry mass following. It's a bloodbath and I don't think it's going to boil over in a few weeks.

Have you been reading any of the Twitter comments on this? 95% of them read like this. In the eyes of the Twitter-using public, Bauer is a rapist skull-fracturing woman beater who should be locked up for life. Even the Dodgers subreddit has almost unanimously buried him.

 

I’m guessing that the Dodgers are legit concerned about the public backlash of continuing to roster him.

The people who hate him now all, unanimously, thought he was a harrassing mysoginist loser BEFORE the Dodgers even signed him. His popularity level may have barely changed because of this. I'm not sure the Dodgers care that much but of course it all depends on the actual facts and we don't know then.

Okay, so let's say for a moment that during perfectly consensual rough sex, he'd killed her. That's still murder (or manslaughter) and he would be convicted easily.

 

Consensual rough sex shouldn't leave marks or lasting damage of any kind, if it does, you are doing it wrong, holy f***balls. It's about control, dominance and the illusion of danger, but it should always be 100% safe.

 

This is the reason that every single person you know who is into BDSM (and it's more than you think...) isn't walking around with bruises on their face constantly. If she does, in fact, have a skull fracture the fact that she requested rough sex doesn't matter, that's assault.

 

I'm not saying he's guilty, that's not for me to decide, but what has been released (from both sides) certainly looks bad.
