Benito Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I'm trying to remember the last time there were so many young generational talent playing at the same time. When was the last time a group matched Vlad, Acuna, Tatis, Soto, and now Wander? All 23 and under that are already established super stars. Wander still has to prove it, but his track record indicates high probability he'll join the Jrs and Soto.

I can't remember a time when so many young players came up and were almost immediate superstars. I also think this is going to continue, because technology has shortened the learning curve for these elite talents.
Benito Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Carlos Correa emerging as the cream of the 2022 free agent SS class. Both his walk rate and k rate best of his career. He also happens to be the youngest. The others mentioned in same group are having down years. Bad timing. Semien was generally not mentioned in that group pre-season that I can recall, but he's second to Correa in WAR. Will he beat Lindor's contract in free agency?
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I think with his injury history, being more inconsistent, and him possibly moving off SS in the future probably means he gets less than Lindor got.

I don't think so Correa has injuries in the past and Lindor has shittin' the proverbial bed so far this year. It'll make teams weary. As RT has just said the defense isn't on the same echelon.

There's a lot more technology and data out there today, for both players and organizations to take advantage of.

George Bell, Lloyd Moseby and Jesse Barfield back in the early 80's were great for the Jays, Upshaw, Fernandez, those teams were great. But, nothing like these kids today.
Benito Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I was going to mention Correa's durability. But thought maybe with his age, it's an issue he can overcome. But no doubt, teams will take it into consideration. It may also be, teams recognized that the Mets overpayed, and will look to avoid making same error. I thought pre-season, Seager would emerge as the cream of the 2022 SS class. Maybe he might fall into the Jays price range? Probably not.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Should be suspensions for these metldowns. Pitchers cheat....then throw a fit when the league tells umpires to make sure they are not cheating anymore. I'll take the meltdowns if it means pitchers aren't using any illegal substances.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Should be suspensions for these metldowns. Why are pitchers being dramatic about this? Don't worry Romo, nobody thinks you're cheating.
