Holy f***. Throwing 101, hitting 450 foot home runs.

This is the first time in 118 years that the pitcher is batting 2nd in the lineup.

As a baseball fan you have to just sit back and take that in. Just not something I’ve ever seen.

Absolutely - I just yelled at my 10 year old son to put his phone away and f***ing watch Ohtani.

Lol the first thing they do when Giolito gets on the mic is ask him how good Ohtani is

I'm very unhappy that DK isn't giving me both batting and pitching stats for him

I mean the balls a manager has to have to bat a pitcher 2nd in an AL game. What if he comes out flat on the mound and gets rocked? So far Ohtani is rewarding that ballsy move. Fascinating to watch.

I must have missed the backstory here. Does Ohtani just really like hitting when he pitches? Or does the team just really want to have his bat in the lineup every game?

Man - there have been 3 or 4 balls hit tonight I thought were gone off the bat (their microphone placement seems awesome - sounds amazing (and deceiving) when they square it up.

Maybe it's that sound - or maybe the balls don't have as much juice this year.

Well, he's a really good hitter, so why wouldn't you want his bat in the lineup every game?

It's probably Matt Vasgersian blowing his load over flyballs that don't reach the warning track.

I mean obviously you would - but playing the remainder of the game without a DH is quite a risk. They didn't do this in 2018.

We really need to see this for 32 to 34 starts this year. Baseball needs more Ohtani.

I dunno if it's that big of a deal. They can get by with pinch hitters or maybe eat some outs here or there depending on the score/situation.

The alternative is what, 4 to 5 more PA of Pujols? I'd take that tradeoff every time

The umpire is only 28 years old? That seems amazing to me. I didn't know someone could get to the majors so young.

I feel like you would have to have an "in" or be a really f***ing good umpire. There's like 75 umpires in all of MLB.. pretty tough roster to crack.

I'm out of the loop myself. I think they are just using him as much as possible. Imagine if he gets 100 more ABs and 20 or 30 more innings than all the projection systems out there and does both at a above average level....just a wonderful talent.

A-Rod saying that "no one would know" if Vasgersian said a Japanese word wrong on broadcast is... something
