Nba offseason is how I wish the MLB offseason went. Like even half of that lol

Football they start negotiating the FA contracts before the season is over basically. You get $100m deals like 5m after FA officially opens

So much crap has happened over the past week in the NBA that it makes my head hurt. Luckily with the shutdown coming again, I'll have nothing but time to figure it out. Theres still Harden, Westbrook, Wall and others that will probably get traded soon.

Siakim, Powell and a 1st rd pick for Harden.

That was actually quite a blitz on the NBA. Didn’t pay attention last couple days. Lakers are ridiculous at this point.

I actually don't like how much movement there is in the NBA. There are so many JAGs that it's just about managing the salary cap.

I'm a bit surprised they haven't removed Yamaguchi. Clearing the roster spot and taking the chance (however remote) that someone claims him seems like a no-brainer.

You really don't like him, lol. Isn't 25 innings enough to look at it with a grain of salt, at least?

I think from an optics perspective it makes sense to hang on to him at least until midway into next season, otherwise it's bad look for other Japanese IFAs the team might want to sign in the future. If it looks like they're the kind of org who will cut a guy in circumstances like the past season where Yamaguchi barely even pitched in then it doesn't make us a desirable destination for other guys like him.

That's a steal for the raptors wtf

Maybe he’s just saying gross to giving up much for Harden. Not even a Rap fan and I think it’s an awful fit. I’m not sure Harden gets many teams over the hump but I think he’d be nice in Philly if they could hang on to both Joel and Simmons at same time

Sources: #BlueJays interested in free agent LHP J.A. Happ, who had two prior tenures with the club: 2012-2014 and 2016-2018. Happ, 38, ranked fourth in ERA+ this year among free-agent pitchers who threw at least 40 IP. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Replace Pascal with harden last year and they have a great shot at winning a championship lol

I disagree. Harden is very one-dimensional. Pascal was horrendous offensively in the bubble but his defense was still elite. If you replace him with Harden and put OG at the 4, it's not a certainty that Harden doesn't become a liability on D and get targeted by Boston.

It's possibly he makes enough shots to make up for it, but not a certainty.

Lance Lynn and Yu Darvish both sound like they have a high chance of being traded

How do we match up with Cubs and Rangers?

I lost track of where it ended up with everyone here talking about going after Yu but I think there was some agreement on something similar to Patrick Murphy + Riley Adams considering Cubs need to dump payroll

Harden is fine defensively. His defense being a liability is a narrative that's stuck to him because of a few youtube videos from 5 years ago.

I'd rather trade for Darvish or Lynn than bring Happ back

Amd spend free agent money on the OF

Or sign Bauer. Or Tanaka, etc... it's a dream world. I hear ya, though. If we're signing someone significant, they'll press for one year deals. And Happ gets f*** all.

Gregg Popovich sure knows how to exploit his defense. The Spurs constantly run plays against Harden with a lot of success, especially in the playoffs.

When was the last time the spurs played Harden in the playoffs? Like 4 years ago. All of harden's defensive metrics are fine and he's had the biggest offensive load in the NBA.

are we trading for Harden to play 3rd base? Take this talk to the lounge!

The only reason Happ gets brought up is the past connection to the team and the Canadian inferiority complex, or the expected complex from baseball writers who conclude only players who have already suffered from having spent time in Canada will be open to the idea of coming back.

Happ has little to no utility here. He's barely better than existing options. The Jays have SP #2 and 4-8 already. The team needs #1 and #3.

I would be so pissed seeing Happ in our rotation to start the season.

And its gotten to the point where I've started tuning out the "jays are interested in ..." headlines. Lets get some players return the favour lol

Jays are like the guy at work always making sure you know he’s doing work. It’s good that they kick the tires on every FA but I don’t think it’s an accident that they always get linked to everyone
