Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Hearing that the Indians are listening to offers for Lindor??? Lol what is that front office doing... are they competing or not? I understand trading Lindor would be good for them in the long-term, but what do they realistically think they’ll get back for 30 games of Lindor in this wacky Covid season? And their offense would look atrocious without him. EDIT: my mistake, Lindor is still under control for 2021. Still seems weird they’d think about moving him NOW.

It doesn't mean they will actually move him.
The Iceman Verified Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 This Jays team is not ready for a deep playoff run SO DON'T GIVE UP ANY TOP 30 prospects. Go dumpster diving for some depth and make the team better. Players that can be had for cash considerations. Freddy Galvis or Simmons, Sogard, Strop, Jeffries, Greg Holland, Maybin/Bradley jr/Pillar, Brett Anderson Be smart and don't mortgage the future for a lottery ticket with no fans in the building.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 The price was pretty high for Givens, that extra year of control was worth a lot.

If they can get a guy that is really good and has two years of control, they may have to. And I am okay with that. Playoffs are awesome.

We can give up prospects and back fill with free agents because this FO is loaded, willing to spend when required, and has a minimal payroll after 2020.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I can confirm it is not Conine or Brown I like that Robertson was not confirmed.

I don't know, the back end of the top 30 is usually some thoroughly uninteresting prospects. Some of back end of the top 30 guys would be fine to move IMO, particularly the older ones.

Nothing wrong with moving out a few prospects to make a run, but I'd like the front office to operate similar to the Dodgers, in that they have untouchable prospects that they won't move out no matter what.

Following the Rays formula for success.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Trevor Rosenthal, Mitch Moreland, and Jason Castro does not really feel like "loading up". I guess Moreland is having a great year and Castro is a slight upgrade.

You sure they don't, or if an opportunity rises for elite talent under control, they won't? No one knows.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Jonathan Schoop could be a nice, probably very cheap rental. He's quietly become a good hitter again with passable defence. 3B is a tirefire for the Jays right now so I wouldn't be opposed to just rotating Biggio/Vlad/maybe Schoop at 3B and taking the offensive upgrade on Shaw. Shaw is poop. Schoop is probably not much more than a PTBNL.

Give me a break....add future salary cap space, plus prospect capital and we have an excess. We're not the Rays. We can spend 170 if we want. You have to look at where the team is at. We have above league average hitters at every position except catcher and third. We could upgrade third. We have a solid number 1. Go get Lynn and Cabrera. We're still going to have plenty of good prospects. How attractive are the Jay going to look to the best free agent pitchers available in the off season with the emergence of our bullpen with Ryu and Lynn at the top of the rotation.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I swear the bullpen has found a fairy godmother or something. SRF comes in and looks lights out.

Anybody outside the Jays top 5ish prospects should absolutely be on the table as a trade chip lol.

Bturn2210 Verified Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray The Blue Jays are looking for another starting pitcher even after acquiring Taijuan Walker. They’re also actively trying to acquire a shortstop and have cast a wide net in search of one with Bo Bichette out.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Figure we may look at Jose Iglesias
baubau Verified Member Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Figure we may look at Jose Iglesias This may or may not matter, but I've heard the dude is a dick. This FO seems to like "character" guys so not sure if they'd target him. But I could be 100% wrong and don't work in a FO role, so what I know.
