He does what ever successful manager does. After the game ends he pours himself a glass of scotch and starts scouring over the scouting reports for the next game. Several hours later he’s usually done with the bottle of scotch and the clubhouse attendant shows up for work that day so Boone has him fire up the pitching machine so he can take some hacks in the cage. Eventually he passes out for a few hours. When he wakes up around noon he eats 4 or 5 sandwiches and starts yelling at his players. Basically, EVERYONE is READY to play.

 

Gibbons told me that every good manager basically does some variation of this. Chucky doesnt do this though because he’s just not a winner! He’d rather practice his bongos and salsa dance all night. Someone slap this guy we’ve got some games to WIN

Bongo Chucky never should have fired Dante Bichette. No idea why they treat Jesse Barfield like a pariah either. Seems like the team was scoring runs by the buttload when those two Hall of Fame and Blue Jays legends were around the team. Hilarious. In 1999 Bichette hit like .295 .350 .550 and it was a league average hitter when factoring in Colorado

 

Matt Chapman (before today's awful fiasco) was .204 .280 .400 or so and a league average hitter.

 

Also with defense Chapman was like 4 or 5 WAR along ahead of Bichette.

 

Chapman needs to time travel to late 90s and play in late 90s Colorado (which was rocketball, way more than humidor Colorado is)

Well Tapia's got incredible reach but I'd imagine his punches feel like muffins. Gibbons probably weighs almost 3x as much as Tapia so Gibbons would be a heavy heavy favorite.

As much as Montoyo sucks as a manager. He’s one of the least of our concerns right now. This team has a massive depth issue and a very weak bullpen. We don’t really have anyone capable of being plugged into the lineup. If we are looking at someone like Gabriel Moreno to save us I’m very concerned.

The bullpen isn't going to be Top 10 but it should be serviceable enough until the trade deadline. The bench sucks too but that shouldn't be tanking our season and that's another spot where we can get by until the trade deadline.

 

The main problem is the offense sucks, especially with RISP and a lot of our main regulars are to blame. But that's not going to last.

 

Our record right now is fine, it's just that we happened to lose a bunch of games lately so it seems worse than it really is. Let's split these final two games in Tampa and then we get into a softer schedule where we can rack up some wins.

They lost this game because Goldschmidt's ground ball rate is 35% and Vlad's 55%. That was the bigger issue.
