Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 No reason why Bass should not been available but I can understand the reasoning for not wanting to use Ramano.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Should have continued with Cole after only throwing 10 pitches. That would have been the better option, although Cole gave up two warning track fly outs in his inning.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Don't pinch hit for Panik or anything
rydermike Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Had to look this guy up. We claimed him on Waivers on July 26, then DFA by July 30. Two appearances 1.2 IP. ERA of 16.10 Granted Gaviglio let in 3 runs in 0.2 innings. I think that's a 40 ERA
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Damn, what a weird delivery this Drake guy has
el duque Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Nice and exiting game, thanks Jays, less Gaviglio please
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Game, set, match. Lets get 2/3 tomorrow!!!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Get em tomorrow. Great start by Shoemaker and some good hitting today. Biggio is still studly. Edited July 25, 2020 by BlueRocky
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Shoemaker kept grabbing his right thigh though, something is up
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Yeah he looks and manages like a fall guy. He was here to soak up a s*** ton of losses because no good candidate would have. At least I hope that's the case. So far I think Gibby 2.0 was more analytical than him, so I'm not sure what the point was for hiring him other than to take one or two seasons on the chin. I honestly thought this the moment they hired him. Expectations have been taken up a notch probably faster than anyone anticipated though. There’s gotta lot of good options excited at the potential of managing this team now with all the young talent starting to establish themselves. Blue Jays are also in position to start throwing some money around as well. Dipped their toe on the market already for Ryu. I don’t think they are going to shy away in the off-season.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Don't pinch hit for Panik or anything Not that it would have likely made a difference but I thought that was worse than the pitching decisions
WILLIEUPSHAW Verified Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 I don't get how with all the arms on the current expanded 30 man roster, that they didn't have a better option than Gaviglio in that 8th inning. This was a tough loss after such a great outing by Shoemaker and tomorrow's probably starters being Hatch versus Snell.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 A lot of us questioned the decision to thoroughly ignore the bullpen after making a big investment in Ryu. I still question the decision now. Throwing a couple million at a Brandon Kintzler may have been a good idea.

I still question the decision now. Throwing a couple million at a Brandon Kintzler may have been a good idea. I'm guessing it will be the main focus of the offseason. It's full of arms that have a shot at being good high leverage arms (Bass, Romano, Cole, Dolis), but the reality is that the only proven guy is Giles, and most of the others won't become elite.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Not really early. He was the manager last year and sucked just as much Fair point. But I wanted to just look at 2020 with a fresh perspective and hope that he learned a thing or two from his rookie season and would apply it. Trying to be positive sucks s***.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Well I think Romano, Bass and Dolis all could be something but they used all of their bullets yesterday after Ryu's frankly s***** outing. So is Ryu going to be s***** all year? Sounds like you weren't impressed.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 So vlad is still pounding the ball on the ground a lot 8 whole at bats and you came to that conclusion. You're a baseball savant.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 We will tomorrow. Guaranteed! For 2020 that's about as optimistic as we should get
WILLIEUPSHAW Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 I don't understand why Borucki isn't on the roster. maybe they want him to continuing building up stamina so they can use him as a starter soon.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 maybe they want him to continuing building up stamina so they can use him as a starter soon. fair enough...I'm sure he will see some action at some point.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 fair enough...I'm sure he will see some action at some point. Considering he missed almost all of last year with elbow problems, it makes sense not to rush him right now. Let him get some regular work in on the taxi squad in a controlled environment, then promote him in a few weeks when you're sure he's properly built up.
WILLIEUPSHAW Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 fair enough...I'm sure he will see some action at some point. Yeah and if not that will likely mean all the guys ahead of him on the SP depth chart are healthy and pitching well. Fingers crossed they all hold together for 60 games. I would sure like to see Shoemaker do well, that injury last season was so crushing.
