  1. I say 100+ pitches - let the vetrin work his way through the 6th before a quick hook. And look at you, Big Mr Mod calling people dummies - I thought that was out of bounds here now!....... f*** Off !!!
  2. I think a bigger (taller) pitcher like Big Nate with 'good' mechanics at 100 mph is not necessarily a bigger injury risk. I mean consider 5'8" Stroman throwing 95 - now that is the one you have to figure can't last......
  3. as Brownie19 said "In hindsight, he should have left Anderson in - and I'd fully support if he left Ryu and Roark in a bit too long also, while simply stating to the public that his bullpen is taxed right now and he had to get more innings out of his starters - even if it comes with diminishing results." an overworked bullpen is a generally ineffective bullpen. Starting pitching still rules !
  4. should have just scrubbed the whole thing for 2020!!!!!!! ETA: pitchers DID NOT have their usual 'build up ' time to enter the 'regular season'. This was malpractice by the MLB brass and the teams!
  5. You missed the point. The starter (Anderson) should not have been pulled at that time. Should have given him at least 1 more batter and up to 100 pitches would have been appropriate (only 83 when he was yanked)!
  6. It seems he is a chicken-s*** bitch, who is scared that doing nothing (leaving the starter in), will be seen as negligence. But then he goes and puts gas-can Font in a close game, which is subsequently lost. As MANY have already said here - the man is in WAY over his head ( he is probably an acceptable AAA manager.......)
  7. Thanks, I missed that one. It's a cruel game for sure !!
  8. Even Ryan Goins managed -0.2 fWAR in his tenure with the Jays from '13-'17.
  9. Understatement of the year. Didn't the Jays acquire this guy because he was (like Roark) a decent vet who could go out and give you 6 ip with around 4.50 ERA. So of course Chuckles has to pull him after only 83 pitches when the pitching staff is depleted and team in the middle of 28 days (or whatever) without an off day. I am agreeing with the consensus, that bozo needs to be gone at the end of the season. Font blew big time tonight, but I would also point out that Cole (who had been quite effective entering this game) surrendered the big blow with the 3 run triple (3 inherited base runners all scoring) then allowed 1 more run charged to himself. Had he got the job done (albeit in a horrendous situation with based loaded 1 out), Jays win. Maybe they should go back to trying Font as an opener (had a good run in that role last season), and if he still sucks, then pull the plug. The problem is that in this short season, there is no time to 'experiment' to see what will work. I think we should all just tone down our expectations, since taking the 8th seed and getting creamed by the A's , Rays or Yanks isn't going to do much for fan enthusiasm ( considering the need to build the excitement for when the fans are finally allowed to attend games again). By the way: interesting that, even after today's disaster, Wilmer has an xFIP of 4.54 despite an elephantine ERA of 11.00.
  10. wow I am surprised to hear the players don't like them (royal blue) considering how much they used to wear them both on the road and at home
  11. right now, he looks like Shatkins best acquisition (other than maybe Giles) since coming to TO!
  12. I prefer the royal blue jerseys. If it was up to me, they would wear those ones all the time!
  13. anyone know the Jays' W/L record with the new powder blue jerseys so far ? It seems they are using them a lot lately.........
  14. I'm just interested in seeing the rules applied fairly across the board (no pun intended). Thanks for the clarification on Boxcar. I think he is a smart guy with a lot to offer (obviously) if he can be in the right state of mind and focus on the issues, not on criticizing the other posters.
  15. pretty much proved my point right there. no answer would have been so much better to keep from making the sham less obvious.
  16. but under what conditions!? Start over with new username, or 'kiss the ring'; and get his original account re-instated!?
  17. But making the 8th seed and then upsetting the Yankees in round 1 would be epic!!!!!
  18. JUST WIN, BABY !! - Al Davis: Oakland Raiders legendary coach, GM, and then owner (one of the greatest Americans!) https://athlonsports.com/nfl/al-davis-just-win-baby
  19. there you go - that's why we brought in a Rays guy to help us identify and exploit that next big 'market inefficiency'
  20. If the Jays win a WS with him at the helm, will your dislike for him spoil it for you ? If not, then no worries. If so, then re-evaluate your priorities..... J/K
  21. It seems more and more that they are focusing less on total pitches thrown but more so on how those pitches are 'spread out' through the innings and correspondingly how many pitches in stress/high-leverage situations. If Ryu can cruise through 7 ip with 110 pitches, I wouldn't be totally surprised. But once things get dicey in the 5th or 6th and the pitch count is up, few guys get left in there anymore.
  22. isn't he pretty much exactly mimicking Giles with that ?
  23. not only the bunt but 8th spot hitter Biggio with the winning run scored - Chuck wins the day. The good news being that when he wins, we also win!
  24. I feel like you are denigrating 'dentally challenged people'. It makes me feel 'less safe' to post on this forum. Please stop
  25. 4 game series - save the BP for tomorrow - also I think they have a 'BP' game planned for tomorrow
