Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Shapiro's on Tim and Sid, I kind of just bumped into it, so I'm not sure how much has been said. I really hope Trudeau lets the Birds play at the dome, he's already let the NHL be a hub city in Canada. Damn, last few questions were good, but Shapiro didn't bite.

The difference being the constant border travel. Maybe if the Jays schedule went something like 15 at home, 30 on the road, 15 at home it would help things out.

Is the risk associated with players coming across the border from places like Florida worth it, just to play games at the dome with no fans?

Canada loses out on millions of dollars of tax if they say no. They turn away Canadian residents who pay tax in Canada and throw them to the s*** if we say no. What are the risks associated with baseball players coming in when they are tested prior to coming and when they are essentially quarantined to hotels and empty baseball stadiums? It seems like a no brainer to me.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 "Spring" training at the Rogers Centre? Thought training was the main purpose of the Dunedin complex.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 "Spring" training at the Rogers Centre? Thought training was the main purpose of the Dunedin complex. Dunedin/Florida is a shitshow and I imagine they'd like players who test positive to go into quarantine ASAP, if the plan was to have games in Toronto then it doesn't make much sense to delay that.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 (edited) 58 players - room for 2 more. Martin and ? I’m think Austin Martin and C.J. Van Eyk. The list looks like a lot of pitchers, but good chance teams will burn through their entire rotation and bullpen very quickly. Not just with doubleheaders and rescheduled games due to outbreaks, spring training is much too short to get the arms ready to go by July 23. BP usage and openers will be used often I think. They’re reaching down to Ty Tice, Wilmer Font, Brian Moran, Rafael Dolis, Hector Perez for the 60-pool signals that they’re preparing for this (and good opportunity for them). The names jumping on and off the covid list, 60 list, and taxi squads will likely be pitchers. Edited June 29, 2020 by BlueRocky

Just got to mention Florida, due to current lib press efforts to crucify the conservative governor over recent increase in positive China virus tests. But guess what, dipshit: L.A. county (only outdone in libtardedness by NYC under deCommio and San Francisco) recently has been running the highest rate of new Chinese virus cases in the US. I get this info from sometimes never-Trumper Ben Shapiro, who lives there. And his wife, unlike Jill Biden, is a real doctor, LOL;) PS: NYC remains a hotbed (although well down from the peak) of Chinese virus activity! So, lets all just be extra safe and f*** THE WHOLE THING! PPS: wasn't the plan to keep the players and staff of the teams travelling into Canada for games effectively quarantined from the general public! In that case, it is an irrelevancy! But Jim the materials engineer (or whatever) is not smart enough to figure that one out! Edited June 29, 2020 by wk680

Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Can't wait for the season to start. Just one question though, what if for example the entire team contracts Covid, will they then call up the entire Buffalo AAA team??
