Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Sign me up for Ross Stripling. Can I ask - why are the Dodgers moving him? Isn't their starting pitching depth getting a little thin?

Beans Verified Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Dodgers are still $6M over the luxury tax, so they need to move Joc and his $9M arbitration salary before the season begins. Will be interesting to see if they give him away for a light return or are still able to find a fair deal out there. EDIT: Pederson is actually owed $7.75M (he lost his arbitration case Friday), and not sure how the $10M they sent to the Twins impacts their payroll (if anyone knows, please post).
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 David Price? Good catch. Still, between Price, May, Urias, Wood, Nelson, Gonsolin there are lots of question marks over who's going to provide innings. They just lost 335 innings from Ryu and Maeda, while only adding 100 from Price. Seems like Stripling would be a good guy to keep for a contending team like the Dodgers.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I've seen quite a few pretty pissed off Angels fans, Joc and Stripling would have been nice additions. After the reports that their owner Moreno flipped out over the deal being put on hold, many of them seem to think he may have actually been the one who axed the trade all together.

I have them at $15M over. Twins money is $2.5 per year for 4 years.

Man, that would be so frustrating as a hardcore fan of that team. They were rumoured to be giving up Luis Rengifo for Stripling and Pederson. There were other names involved so it might have ended up an even deal, but imagine having that rug yanked out?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Joc Pederson trade to the Angels fell through. Considering the awkwardness of his arbitration hearing (that he lost), and them trying to trade him. That relationship has got to be awkward as hell. And now the Dodgers have to move him. Atkins please be all over that. Joc would be perfect for this lineup. Joc would be an upgrade, but with one year of control left until he's a FA, I don't think the Jays would have much interest.
