If he had mlb money he prob could’ve bought his way out.

He’ll have another chance though. Looks like max he’s facing is 5 years and he prob won’t get the max.

Seeing as he killed Dominicans and not Americans, I doubt there will be an outcry on his second chance

Think he'll even get 5? Three people on one motorcycle(that was probably built for 1), that had no lights, at night, on the highway. It'd be interesting to know if they were under the influence as well. Sounds like poor decisions all around.

Fixed.

Strange timing don't you think, I guess that's the last of Simmons as an Angel...

Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association developed an environment and system that empowered players and provided us the opportunity to decide on whether to play or opt out of the season,” Simmons said in a statement provided to The Times. “At this moment, I feel this is the best decision for me and for my family.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we would like to sincerely thank the Angels organization and Angels fans for welcoming and making us feel at home.

I was wondering this, tuned in to watch him, you see it?

No. Just said he had a 1,2,3 first inning and didn't come out for the 2nd. Scratched his previous start due to bicep tendonitis so this could be bad for the Padres.

Yikes. They paid big for him, what a blow that'd be.

because stupid. More WAR in the MLB this year.

Arguably, he should win. He has way less around him than the Chisox and Twins. f*** Anderson, Trout would likely win in a full season as he's a beast, Abreu and Cruz have had great seasons but... hmmm... I say Ramirez, I'm in his corner.

Looks awfully close to Lourdes Gurriel Jr, but I don't think the SB are right.

Is it Mark Canha?

Jo Adell at -1.4 fWAR, 27 wRC+, 41.6% K rate. Projections don't like him much (minor league stats were not convincing for his uber-prospect status).

Is anyone buying him in dynasty? What are his odds to bust completely?

Similar concerns for Carter Kieboom. Not as drastic there though.

It's interesting that a prospect like Ke'bryan Hayes can hit the ground running in comparison to those two after putting up pedestrian MiLB numbers. I think it shows the importance of indicators like K and BB rates and that raw offensive numbers can be misleading. A hyper athletic hitter can hack his way to a great wRC+ in the minors.

Man - the Pirates sure could use Ke'bryan Hayes becoming a star. He's a stud defensively.

Adell has like 400 at bats above A ball and is 2 years younger than Hayes. And probably did f*** all during quarantine.

His leg kick is probably unnecessary for how quick his bat already is. He should get a year or two in the minors to try and make adjustments. If he can't make them at that point, I'd be worried.

A more interesting name is Victor Robles.

Yeah Adell seems rushed. Angels called him up as a desperation move and now he's already been supplanted by Ward and Walsh. Still, early shades of Brandon Wood AND the teams that guess right early on big busts can extract substantial surplus value from a sinking ship. E.g., the Yankees made an insane profit dumping Montero for Pineda.

Robles reminds me of Profar in some ways. A well-rounded game but just... weak!

May as well toss Lux in the disappointment bin too

Lux is one that it is definitely too early to freak out about. He hasn't produced but the sample is still small, the K rate is not through the roof, and the minor league numbers were just soooo convincing.

Yaz Grant, sorry. I was upset Jim cheated, lol. Most under-rated player in baseball.

First player I thought of, your infatuation with Yaz is well known.

Who's everyone got for the NL CY? The race looks like a crazy 6-horse dead heat between Darvish, deGrom, Bauer, Castillo, Lamet, and Burnes.

Bauer for me. All are really close so looking for ways to differentiate them is tough but bauer beats them all in xWOBA. He even beats Bieber in that category. He might even have 1 more start sunday

I'd be fine with any of Darvish, deGrom and Bauer winning it. Burnes may have been the best on a per inning basis (although he's gotten very lucky on homeruns allowed) but will have a lot fewer innings than the others in an already short season which I think should count for something. I think I'd give it to deGrom again, he's IMO the best/most dominant pitcher of the group and having a 3rd consecutive Cy Young would be awesome and totally deserved.

If I had a ballot it'd be:

1. deGrom

2A. Darvish

2B. Bauer

4. Burnes

5. Lamet

I was going to say that the dinosaurs will probably favor Darvish due to Wins...however, they'll be contradicted by Bauer's ERA.

I'd love to see deGrom land his 3rd straight, which will essentially lock him into the HOF.
