connorp Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 It seems cheap to blame Manfred for inevitable stuff like this. Digital ads aren't even new to baseball. Has there not been a green screen behind the batter at Rogers Centre since before Manfred? It used to bug the s*** out of me because there was a bit of tearing/artifacts on the feed around the moving batter. They’re cancelling whole series’ because 1 person (player/admin/janitor) on both teams tested positive. Mlb/Manfred sucks

Actually, as usual, the demon is the media. After the Miami incident, anything less than a gross overreaction to a positive test would lead to mob justice and Manfred’s job.

They are playing baseball successfully outside of a bubble and ratings are good. You'll live if the odd series gets postponed. You don't have to read what everyone with an opinion is saying on Twitter about sports and Covid. Not everything in life is a battle of ideals. Shut up and watch!
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Hey, what do you think will happen to the Orioles' Chris Davis? He's not a FA until 2023 lol and is just awful, and this year has been pretty much benched. You would think they would just DFA him at some point, wouldn't you? Holy that's a lot of money to throw away.

Holy that's a lot of money to throw away. That contract gets even worst since he deferred a ton of money for several years after 2023. It's already sunk cost, not sure why they are wasting the roster spot on him.

Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 So they can aid their tank. I guess he is aiding the tank by taking up a roster spot. He sure isn't playing much.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 So they can aid their tank. And the Oriole's FO takes care of the rest by tanking their draft.

It's already sunk cost, not sure why they are wasting the roster spot on him. They are going to suck anyway. If they let him embarrass himself there is a small chance he might just retire early out of shame (he has talked about it) or at least instruct his agent to negotiate a buyout so he can go home and pray.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Check out Buxton's speed to beat a routine ground ball. It lost Tigers the game too. I know of very few players who could beat out a routine ball like that, whether current or historic. FFW to 6:38

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) Crazy stat: Boston has given up 266 runs, while Cleveland has given up only 116 in almost the same number of games. The Dodgers and Indians have given up fewer than 266 runs combined. The average hitter against 2020 Boston pitching is putting up a slash line very close to that of Ken Griffey Jr's career. BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Kind of funny Trout hit his 300th career HR to pass Salmon for the franchise lead. 16 expanded playoff format and the Angels still can’t put together a competitive team for Trout. Just really sad to see his career wasted. They’ll likely keep the expanded format to 12-14 teams in the next CBA as 16 is kinda too much. Hopefully Trout gets a few chances before his career is done.

This is going to be your focus for this season, huh? Does anyone else wonder what's up with Grant's Red Sox hatred? He acts like they are an uncle who touched him inappropriately as a child. It's very weird.

Besides that, when a team is the worst in the history of baseball by a lot, it's just worth noting no matter what team it is.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 So their solution was to just throw the Jays meat balls for the and not come close to the zones because they could not see the catchers fingers..... f*** off
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I love that even the Yankees fans are calling that ******** excuse out.
43211234 Verified Member Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) Adam Ottavino has a 7.4% swinging strike rate this season. He actually did have a swinging strike against Villar. He threw 29 pitches. If literally one of the close check swings were ruled to be a swinging strike that would have given him a 6.8% swinging strike rate. The average reliever this year has an 11.6 swinging strike %. Ottavino had an 11.2% last year and his career rate is 11.0% Just some weak s*** all around lol. Maybe the Blue Jays did know what was coming but that's a pretty flimsy excuse of his outing. Chad Green had no swinging strikes over his 29 pitches. He has a 14.0% swinging strike rate this season.
