Mike Yastrzemski looks like a pretty legit hitter. Nice player the Giants got for free, but more importantly, LOL Orioles.

To be fair to the O's - this would be like Dwight Smith Jr. transforming into a legit regular.

Yeah, I bet they had a real roster crunch of great players and just couldn't find room for Yastrzemski.

Come on man, you know the rules. No giving the Orioles credit allowed.

Not sure what this means for this weekends games but 1 phillies coach and 1 clubhouse attendant tested positive , all activity at CBP halted until further notice

Look, I don't want to start a whole "thing" but does no one think shutting down the entire park over two positive tests is overkill?

I'm looking at this from MLB's perspective. If you were planning to go ahead with the season, wouldn't you kind of expect something like this to happen?

Probably local health orders. Trying to contain a possible outbreak.

Right, you are probably right. Philly is in PA, same government that refused to let the Jays share PNC Park.

As far as I know PA government has nothing not do with shuttingn down CPB, it is a MLB thing but you can't shut down everything when a staff member gets it, that is just not going to work

So doubleheaders with 7 inning games, and a lot of them, are coming.

Yeah, and an extension on the 30 man rosters. The latter not confirmed, but it's likely.

Royals being very aggressive with their pitching prospects. Promoting Kris Bubic to start Friday and he has not pitched above A+. Brady Singer had his 2nd start today and he only had a partial season in AA.

It seems like they don't want to completely waste what they have left in guys like Sal Perez and Merrifield.

Brady Singer does not have impressive stuff. Looks like maybe 60 FB with a 50 or 60 SL and some decent control but no third pitch. Seems like an SP4 at best but I can't see him going through many lineups a 3rd time and the league might catch on to his repertoire quickly.

Weird team.

That is all.

Never ceases to amaze me how Cleveland just churns out ace pitchers.

Be prepared for a cancelled season as now the Cardinals / Brewers game/series is cancelled due to positive tests on the St. Louis side.

Yeah, baseball isn't going to finish the 2020 season.

This fnnn sucks, but no reason to cancel the season, they just need to be flexible and keep trucking through it. I thought it was not smart to start the season on the 23rd or whatever it was with only two games, why not all teams? That extra day makes a difference.

If the players and owners got their s*** together, they could have started early July which would have given them a lot more flexibility now. This season is going to have a huge asterisks beside it anyway if you win the WS and you get a s*** draft pick the next year. Having said, that, I would rather have some baseball even if 7 inning double headers then nada.

Allow them to dip into their pools sin penalty and cancel off days etc. They are all regionally based so travel is not east coast west coast etc.

Play ball!!!

If every single positive coronavirus test result is going to delay games MLB might just as well bite the bullet and cancel the season already. One team having an outbreak directly ended up affecting the games of something like 6 other teams. With so few off-days available to make up games unless the league plans on having teams play 20 doubleheaders a piece in 65 days I just don't see how this season will be able to be completed.

I don't understand why they even bothered to start the season if every positive test was going to result in games being postponed.

They are making it up as they go and the plan was not wholesome.

Ideally they would just be able to isolate players and contact trace, etc., and fill in rosters from the 60 man pool. That's the whole point of the 30 man rosters and 60 man pools.

BUT failures in player discipline, testing accuracy, testing turnaround, and complications from local and state policies, have ruined the plans.

Baseball's hope for how it all could or would work seems to have been too Utopian.

NHL and NBA have taken more realistic approaches with their bubbles. MLB really should have bubbles in a few select places, possible with Toronto being one.

Makes sense to be aggressive with pitching prospects. If they can locate their pitches and have solid offerings why waste their arms down in the minors. Bubic seems to have his control under control and pitched 150 last year, pitchers now don't throw 200 a year anyway. So shouldn't worry about building up any innings.

The fact that they let the Marlins play last Sunday, but are now postponing games for coaches testing positive tells me that they never had a plan to begin with. Everything is reactionary.

MLB and MLBPA are both equally guilty here. Neither side cared about the sport at all. Just about the $$. That's why the NBA will not only get through their season but grow their audience these next few months, while MLB is left in the dust.

Manfred/Clark are going to ruin this sport long term. /rant

I am noticing players still spitting on the field, close discussions (between teammates doesn't matter much, I guess, but with umpires too), etc. I highly doubt the virus is being passed on the field, as was the case with Philly, where none of the players tested positive even though the Marlins are riddled with cases.

There had to be some expectation of this built in. You can not freak out over a couple of positive tests or you may as well just cancel the season.
