Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Folty DFA'd... interesting That's almost shocking considering how good he was in 2018. Was under control through 2021 too. Has looked like trash this year and velocity is way down.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I hate everything. I'd have rather had no baseball than this cocktease. I guess the worry about where the Jays play is completely irrelevant now. What happens with the NFL, now? High contact sport where bodily fluids are flying through the air, many more people on the field/clubhouse and many, many more players who are at higher risk due to obesity. Goodell is getting lambasted all the time whenever I tune in to the NFL Network, that's going to be a shitshow for all the reasons you've mentioned with basically no restrictions on the teams.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Folty DFA'd... interesting Odd - he came on strong in the second half last year....over 57 innings 8.6 K/9 2.6 BB/9 3.77 FIP 4.19 xFIP Must have arm issues.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I feel like this season will only work if they have testing before EVERY game and get the results before first pitch. Also seems extremely stupid that MLB did almost nothing to reduce travel. Like why do we have to travel to Tampa 2 more times? They should have scheduled longer 5 or 6 game series to reduce the bulk of the travel. Would also allow more time to catch outbreaks and isolate the 2 teams. Not only his fault, apparently the Players Association refused any plan that involved playing in a bubble. I'm guessing for balance reasons, I don't know, but I agree. If you're going to play a team this season, do the games all at once without regard for home/away stadiums. We should have played 10 in a row against Tampa, then against Baltimore, then against NYY, etc. Bang on, fellas.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 How many Astros have been HBP this year?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 The PA and the league both suck. No sense putting more blame on one or the other. Equally bad for the sport. Adam Silver is the best example of a commish who has the game’s best interest in mind. Every other league lacks in that. *cough* Gary Bettman *cough*
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 This season won't be played out MLB annouced today that is was cancelling 2 games due covid 19 outbreak. Cannot see it being the last, Hope I am wrong but I just don't see sports in 2020 lasting. Maybe the NHL , they seemed to have done a decent job so far.

You're wrong, there are restrictions. They can't trade jerseys or shake hands after the game where they just finished dog piling one another for 60 minutes

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Terrible time for his career to unravel, he was just getting to the real money, over half of his career earnings came from the start of last season to now.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Could also be Folty mechanics. *drops mic*

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Damn, man... They need to be quicker with the test results if they want this season to work

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 They need to be quicker with the test results if they want this season to work Yeah, this plan will only work if there is rapid test results. If MLB can't do that, then I'm not sure how long they can pull this off.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Is Craig Kimbrel done? He was on pace to becoming one of the best closers of all time, but appears to have fallen off the cliff unfortunately.
