Yeah, to get upset at the Washington name change you'd have to be a real piece of s***.

Can I take a moment to talk about how awful Bob is as a poster and human being? Was this necessary? Some people just get attached to their team.

To judge people you don't even know makes you a real piece of s*** in my books but I think Bob has a monopoly on being correct since he blocks anyone who challenges his narrative.

It won't take along for Cleveland to change their name. They've already been drifting that way in their branding. I'd say its probably a good thing overall, although I do agree with Boxy on the population its 'effecting' really not giving a s***. 90%+ of the Chief Wahoo hats I see are native guys.

It'll be really interesting to see how much pressure the Braves get. To me that's not that different than a team calling themselves the Knights or the Gladiators, but the mob needs something to be outraged about.

Both the Braves and Blackhawks have no plans on changing their name, I believe the Braves might be getting rid of that annoying Tomahawk chop though.

What about the Chiefs?

There's going to be a tsunami of name changes all throughout sports.

There will be a list of approved names to be chosen from, such as The Diversity, The Inclusion, The Equality.

No, you can't. This is the kind of post we're trying to eliminate.

For me, I liked the Redskins colours and uniform, so I'm less excited about that rebranding. The burgundy and yellow combination is pretty unique. It would in a sense be like if Oakland relocated and changed their name and colours. I don't really think people in Washington DC are racists and no one used the team name to incite hatred, but it is probably the most insensitive out of the Native American names (Blackhawks, Indians, Braves) so probably should be changed even if none of the natives care.

I am rooting for big changes to Cleveland, though. Their kits are putrid. Call them the Spiders because spiders are cool af and give them some unique new threads.

I am 100% pro Cleveland Spiders. We need more invertebrates represented in team names! (Next up: The Scorpions!)

I've heard the Braves, Chiefs, Indians, etc. aren't considered offensive because it's not a slur. Redskin is defined as a slur in contemporary dictionaries.

Rebranding has nothing to do with the name itself or its connotations, but the effect on the business / customer base. If Washington's NFL franchise thinks they will make more money (e.g., sell more jerseys) in this day and age by rebranding, so be it.

Have they indicated they will change the colours? I agree with you - I'd like to see them keep the colour scheme.

Do you think the fans will stop it though?

I don’t see it stopping. It’s borderline annoying when watching the Braves at home, but their fans love it.

I don't have a problem with it (have native's complained it offends them?). Baseball needs everything it can to engage the fans in the seats.

So he has carte blanche to call everyone who disagrees with him a piece of s***? Seems a bit unfair.

Any rebranding is always an opportunity to make more money.

Let's see how fast Amazon and eBay jump on this and disallow Redskins memorabilia to sell at inflated prices on their platforms.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not squeamish about these kinds of things generally (I don't find any of the others bad) but I agree that Redskin comes off as a slur and should be changed. I mean, it's kind of a lame thing for your team to be named after, anyway.

Nah, I think a lot of corporations are lead by cowards. Even Roger Goodell was forced into a hostage statement. The mob is achieving success because everyone is just bending to their demands.

Yes. I take no issue with the change. I take issue with how it's being done. The cancel culture mob literally had to back Washington's ownership and Goodale into a corner before they relented. This change should have been made voluntarily decades ago.

His comment was stupid and unproductive, but it wasn’t directed at anyone in particular. If you wanted to respond to it you could have (and later did) by pointing out why some fans might be legitimately upset, and not by calling him a terrible poster and person or whatever it was.

Every one of your sentences is incorrect, sorry. Based on what you have written, you probably think the Civil Rights Act was Congress bending to the demands of MLK et al. It wasn't, it was a response to changing public opinion. As are the current spate of changes.

This! It will always be about money and power. It took a hit to the pocketbook. I always wanted a player to be the first one to say "I won't play for them"...but that hasn't exactly done well for the careers of players in the past. Now it is time for FedEx and Nike to step up and deal with the real issues.

I'm not getting into a back and forth but it's pretty classic for the unpopular but loud minority to think they represent the interests of most people. People are afraid to oppose the mob because they could lose their job.

Ok, fair enough
