max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Sean Reid-Foley has been added to the roster for the first game of the double header. Probably a smart move. He's looked pretty damn good in his limited innings so far, fastball has ticked up and his command has been pretty good as well. A relief role may just suit him nicely.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 True. Maybe he should move further back in the box or something. But then he’d probably get f***ed by breaking balls or he needs to go full brett lawrie and pound some red bulls pre game
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Bichette and Giles back at the same time will be HUUUUuuuUGGGGe
43211234 Verified Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Fire Charlie and sign Russell Martin as a player-manager. That would maybe be the shrewdest move of all time.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Bichette and Giles back at the same time will be HUUUUuuuUGGGGe That’s like getting 2 huge trade deadline acquisitions
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Bichette and Giles back at the same time will be HUUUUuuuUGGGGe It would be impossible to overstate the impact of having these guys available for the games against the Yankees. Especially Bo, going from Panik/Espinal to superstar offensive force should help kickstart the struggling offense.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Bichette and Giles back at the same time will be HUUUUuuuUGGGGe I'm guessing they are both back against the Yankees.
The Iceman Verified Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 OK, seen enough. Davis up Fisher out Maybe a break even transaction but just seeing that AB with the bases loaded yesterday put me over the edge. If that was Davis spot in the order Vladdy would have PH for him IMO.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 What is up with weekend night games? Particularly this year when you can't really make up any more games, schedule them early and then at least if there's a weather issue you might be able to wait it out... But seriously though, weekend games should be afternoon games.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I don’t think McGuire is a useless asset going forward but between the inconsistent at-bats and the mental mistakes he has clearly lost confidence. Sending him to Rochester to get some of that back might not be a bad idea and just get Caleb Joseph on the 40 and have him back up and play sparingly behind Jansen. Leave Kirk on the taxi squad but full on send McGuire out. We all want to see Kirk but he has not played above A-Ball not sure you can just throw him into the September fire especially if he might only play once a week.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 McGuire optioned, Joseph recalled, Giles to the 45 day IL...
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 So thats the end of the season for Giles then. Sucks!! We all want to see Kirk but he has not played above A-Ball not sure you can just throw him into the September fire They better not. It would be a big mistake
The Iceman Verified Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 So thats the end of the season for Giles then. Sucks!! They better not. It would be a big mistake Blue Jays transferred RHP Ken Giles to the 45-day injured list. Nothing has changed in Giles' recovery -- this was merely done to free up a spot on the roster for Caleb Joseph whose contract was purchased on Saturday. Giles has been inching toward a return and is set to throw a simulated game on Saturday. If all goes well there -- there's a chance he could be cleared to return next week. Sep 5, 2020, 5:33 PM ET
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 So thats the end of the season for Giles then. Sucks!! It's probably retroactive to when he went on the IL, so like another 10 days or so before he could be taken off?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Giles is eligible to be activated next Friday. Doesn’t’ change his time table. They placed him on the 45 day list so they didn’t have to make a 40-man roster move. This buys them another week before they have to remove someone from the 40.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Oh good, we can certainly handle the loss of our second best hitter while our best hitter is still on the DL.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 We ready to give Rowdy some more love yet? 136 wRC+. K rate is down. BB is up. Been looking solid and we need it badly especially if Teo is out.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 So Teo out, we sit Grichuk and we bat our hottest hitter Gurriel 6th and Villar after bonehead plays yesterday gets rewarded and is hitting 2nd. Charlie magic!

Feels like a good time to remind people that Rowdy had a .501 OPS when I said he's going to bust out and be a solid hitter for us and I was laughed off the board.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Oh good, we can certainly handle the loss of our second best hitter while our best hitter is still on the DL. What happened? He was great yesterday. I don't like the sound of serious time. Serious time means he's not ready for the playoffs!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 What happened? He was great yesterday. I don't like the sound of serious time. Serious time means he's not ready for the playoffs! This sucks. Second time this has happened on a Sunday morning. Whatever happened to guys writhing in pain when they get an injury. In 85 when Buck had to go on the DL he cried like a baby at home plate (after getting the second guy out with a broken leg) In 2003 Jeter wailed like a whale. Missed his 6 weeks, but you didn't wake up to hear he was going to get an MRI... he rolled around like a beached whale. In 2011 Bautista cried as he busted up his shoulder after the all star break, didn't even go on the DL.. just missed 3 days (may have cost him a second 50 homer season though, I seem to remember something like 31 before all star break and only 12 after that year). When Lawrie ruined his career (before it really got started) by diving into the camera bay at Yankee Stadium, we all saw him dive into the camera bay head first. Even Gurriel's last two multi week injuries in August of 2018 and 2019 he was down like someone shot him and caused a 7 minute delay. What the hell is with waking up Sunday morning and seeing guys that looked perfectly fine Saturday night are headed for weeks of DL?????????
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 So Teo out, we sit Grichuk and we bat our hottest hitter Gurriel 6th and Villar after bonehead plays yesterday gets rewarded and is hitting 2nd. Charlie magic! I actually thought Villar was a decent pickup at the deadline but he and Charlie are making me regret that very much.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 s***** news about Teoscar, I guess that means we will continue to get all we can handle of Panik and Villar on an everyday basis until Bo comes back. At least Biggio has been ok in the outfield so we don't have to watch Fisher bumble around all the time.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Hernandez being out is a huge blow. Fisher will get a chance to play now, but most likely it will mean Panik at 2B, Biggio in RF, and Villar at SS most nights until Bichette is back. This happening right before the Yankees series is terrible. Hope he's not out long.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I actually thought Villar was a decent pickup at the deadline but he and Charlie are making me regret that very much. All of our hitters are roughly the same hitter other than the catchers. If you look at career stats they are all similar. Who has the best single season WAR ?? Villar in 2019 at 3.9. If you made the lineup by analytics, which uses minor league stats and career stats you probably get lineups similar to Charlies. It probably prints out the top 10 lineups all within .01 runs per game of each other and Charlie chooses the one he has a "feeling" about.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 So I'm guessing Jonathan Davis will be called up now??
